Reverse Camera Switch 14 Forester XT
Would tapping the 6 volt input on the back of the MFD and supplying it with 6 volt power display the rear camera so I can have an “on demand” switch to turn on the rear camera?

That just powers the camera - it won't "turn" the camera on. It's all CAN bus communication. Both the TCM and MFD are on the main CAN bus so either the TCM tells the MFD directly or the TCM tells the BIU which tells the MFD to display the camera. Either way The TCM has to be tricked into thinking you're in reverse and you probably wont have a good outcome during forward travel if you do that...
