I think it would look really nice.
I am looking into buying the Sti wing myself.
The hood cost a little much but looks really nice.

I think the subject has been beaten to death in numerous threads.

There's always two sides: Don't do it, it's tacky etc. and it's your car do what you want with it.

Take your pick.

It's tacky/rice/misleading/self-aggrandizing. But that's just me...

Do something different than a regular scoop... like a grill or a Seibon/ARC inverted scoop...

I wouldn't do it unless there was an intercooler under there.

keep it looking as stock as possible. If you want to make it look cool just go for the "clean" look and focus on other aspects of the car like: wheels, lowering, fixing the antenna, lights. This way if it looks like a 2.5i people wont know what to expect if you've tuned it and done sensible mods to the engine. Basically I like the sleeper look

I'd be lying if I said that I didn't miss looking out over the hoodscoop of my '97 Outback Sport.

That said, when it comes to hood scoop, I'm of the opinion that if it's not functional, don't do it. If you don't have a turbo and an intercooler, it's strictly a "looks cool" mod and a great way to get your engine compartment extra dirty.

For spoilers I have a bit more leeway. The STI spoilers are too much for my taste. To big, too in-your-face. Way more attention than I need.

A WRX spoiler though, I can see that if it suits your tastes. For sedans though I tend to prefer the wingless look.

Also, NA Impreza overseas come with all sorts of things (wings, skirts, lips, diffusers, signal mirrors, etc) that only the WRXs or STIs come with in the US. I think that the exceptions to that are the scooped hood, and the STI wing. Those only appear on a turbo'ed car or on the STI. I see that as another guideline as to where to draw the line for me.

Putting a WRX hood or a STI spoiler on a 2.5i is without a question rice. That being said, i just bought a WRX hood and will be putting it on my 2.5i as soon as its painted.

Yes, its rice and served no purpose whatsoever other than making my engine dirty, costing money and probably increasing drag, but i personally couldn't stand looking out at that bland nothingness anymore and went for it.

As for the spoiler. I have seen the 2011 STI wing on a WRX and it looked like it fit rather well. Not exactly my cup of tea but it did work. the deck lid spoiler is a good compromise if you dont want to show off too much and like that subtle look. I however prefer the clean look and went with no spoiler and dont intend to get one. Wingless all the way for me

but at end of the day, its up to you

no. no. just leave the stock body parts on the 2.5i.

STi wing and scoop on a 2.5i is hideout!

Yes it's unnecessary. Yes it's "ricer". And yes it also breaks up the bland look of the stock hood.

Do whatever makes you happy, you're the one driving it. I personally love the look of the 08+ scoops, I'd almost think about putting one on my car.

do other mods first like suspension, wheels/tires, swaybars, etc..
then if you still have a lot of cash to burn, then do it.

I'd go with the inverted to pull heat away from the engine the scoop is strictly cosmetic and will create unnecessary drag ultimately slowing you down

I like scoops on all Imprezas. Heck, my OBS comes stock with a scoop and is NA... so is that really rice? It's basically the same thing.

As far as the STi wing... hell no. That's rice. It's way too big for the stock 2.5i suspension and wheels. It looks goofy. It even looks boardline goofy on the STi. Wingless or the little spoiler on the GD IMO.

I have a 2010 2.5i Sedan, didn't come with the rear deck spoiler But deff. once my suspension is complete, I'll be picking one up! Had it on my '06 when I had it and it def. gave it a sportier look! As for the hood scoop, no reason to get it, though I love the way it looks on the 2010 and 2011 WRXs. I like my engine clean!

I say the wing is "Ok" ... as for the hood ... No.

Your choice, but its just a waste of money I think. Money that you could be putting towards a wrx or sti. Then you could have a hood scoop and it would be functional.

Regardless of the nay sayers, here's my 2.5i wagon and always have gotten compliments on it. I swapped hoods with a turbo owner who went front mount and wanted to be less attractive to cops and such.

Some might think it's tacky or rice, but ya know what, it makes the car look sharper and more aggressive. Add my other mods such as being lowered, grillcraft grills, black painted front headlights, rear tinted tail lights, muddies, wheels, roof rails are gone (not shown in photo) and it all comes together nicely.

The only downside to it is that I get hondas and scion constantly buzzing around me looking to race, when I had my greddy ti-c on it was even worse but that's gone now.

The scoop does vent out heat quite nicely though.

My photo is a little old as the roof rails are gone.

^ my scoop did the opposite, I overheated the first time i had it on the rack. It was the only change it did to my car for that track day so it had to be the hood. I think it was restricting the air that was coming in through the radiator. I don't mind the look of it, i only did it because my hood was steel and weighed 42 lbs and the wrx aluminum was 21 lbs. I love seeing people walk around my car and not know what it is. RS trunk, brembos, wrx scoop, sti steering wheel and 6-speed but no intercooler or turbo, huh? Mine was for weight savings so i don't consider it ricey but others might.

^^^ hmm, never heard of one overheating due to a hood change but depending on the conditions at the time, possibly. My engine temps remain constant but then again, it's my DD and don't really hammer it to often other than when on the highway and such.

Yeah, ppl always think my car is a rex but that not was the intention was when putting on the hood.

Beside my local buddy needing my hood for his front mount application and less attention, I hope in the future to swap in a wrx engine when my engine gets long in the tooth.

I have a front splitter the goes to about mid engine so I think just having the extra air that is being forced in was just to much and not all of it could excape fast enough. Just a guess, it may have just been that i was driving the tires off the car that day and the OEM radiator couldn't keep up. I could make it about 15 mins then have to take a cool down lap.
