Default Help me pick a wheel?

Hello,

I've got a 2018 WRX Base. I want to get some gold wheels, and I'm down to two choices:

1. Sparco Assetto Gara
2. Used Japanese Domestic Market STI Enkei's from around 2007.

I'm worried about looks, and reliability/handling.

The stock wheels have an offset of +55. The Enkeis are at +53, and the Sparcos are at +45. A knowledgeable mechanic at the dealer told me that anything between 40 and 56 is okay, i.e. won't affect handling or increase suspension wear.

The Enkeis are 8" wide (same as stock), but the Sparcos are 7.5. This is the smallest wheel that the tire can handle (according to Tire Rack and some wheel calculators I found on the web).

Would the divergent offset and width of the Sparcos have a noticeable affect on handling?

The Sparcos weigh 18.7 lbs., and the Enkeis are 2.5 lbs. heavier. I don't know how much the stock ones weigh. Will the weight be noticeable?

Finally, which do you think looks better?

Enkeis

Thanks, guys!

I personally like the Enkei's. They look a bit classic.

assetto garas for sure but they are a budget wheel made in china fyi.

you should add to your list 2015-2017 launch edition sti bbs. they came in gold but youd probably have a pretty hard time finding a set that isnt beat up.

The difference in offset isn't going to be that noticeable on most of those issues. Also what tire are you talking about when you are referencing the wheel being the smallest size that would fit? And i assume you are talking strictly 17 inch diameter.

I'm not a big fan of the older sti bbs on the newer body styles because i feel they are too small to accent the bigger fenders.

I know you are down to two choices but I love how Gold rota girds look on Subarus.

Any decrease in weight will be noticeable.

That small of an offset difference won't be noticeable.

You'll feel a bigger difference in tires than you will wheels.

I've had multiple sets of Sparcos (currently have Terras as winter wheels) and I like them a lot.

However I wouldn't pass up a set of good, clean STi BBS wheels.

I have assetto garas in bronze and there are a great wheel. A few nicks as they are are painted but they have held up really well after about 6 years I think.

I just got prorace 1.2 wheels from the U.K. and they are sweet and light. I got them in anthracite gloss for my BRZ, but I believe they have gold, check them out. They were $746 shipped to my house from demon tweeks in the U.K., but that was 17x7.

Used gold STIs are a good option as well.

Enkeis are nice but very common depending on the wheel.

Out of those 2 I'd say Sparco for newer body style, but there are other good looking gold wheels as well.
