Default Question about factory head units

hey guys,

I'm thinking of replacing the head unit in my '99 legacy with an OEM 6 disc changer from a WRX. For a similar price, I can also get the changer from the current Legacy, which looks nicer but doesn't have a tape deck. Anyone know the power rating of these head units or anything else that can help me make my decision?

-n.

Get the Legacy one, it's a thousand times better.
What's a 'tape'?

Yeah, why? It looks racier and has an LED instead of LCD display, but I can't discern any other significant difference.

I'm assuming he's talking about the McIntosh unit that was optional in the 2003 Legacy... very nice unit.
But, even the regular Clarion items are far better than the sorry thing the WRX got.

the head unit in my '01 2.5RS was nicer than the WRX but once again, the 6-disc is nice

That's not the McIntosh unit. The older ones were made by Clarion and not as bad, certainly better than the Panasonic (Matsu****a) units.
Give up, go aftermarket.
