Default Best CRANK to use in 2.5L block

I am trying to find out any info on what happens when you use a 2.3L axis strocker crank in a STI 2.5L block . I also want to know the pro's and con's . Does displacement increase our decrease? Are there any real big differences from useing a standard STI cank and the axis crank? Any help would be greatly appreciated .

If you are talking about what I think you are you'd be running a 75 mm crank in a 79 mm motor, displacement would drop and you'd need special pistons.

It would lower the piston speed and thus more reliable at high revs.....if you can get the crank oiling system to work.

I've been round and round on the billet crank vs a stock one. You can buy a lot of stock cranks for the cost of even the cheapest aftermarket ones ($1500 vs $250), and the strength diff is just not that much.

isn't the axis stroker just a EJ25 crank in a EJ22 block?...comes out to like 2350cc...so it would be your same 79mm stroke
the only longer strokes are billet cranks and cost lots of money...I think crawford strokes it out to 82 or 83mm...
If I were you and searching for bigger displacement, I would sleeve and punch out the block

That's what I thought too.

This is everything that is included 2.5L block, 2.3L axis crank, standard 2.5L cp 8:1 pistons . How much would displacement /comp drop in this motor ?What do you mean by special pistons ?

looks like standard 2.2 diamter pistons...so like I said before, a EJ25 crank (79mm) in a 2.2 block...
at 97 mm bore and 79 mm stroke it is 2335cc of displacment...

what more info do you want...all it says is an modified Axis Racing forged crankshaft...whether that means its a billet (doubt it as I don't see a billet crank on the site) or a modified (lightened/balanced) stock forged crank, I don't know.

wonder if their 2.65 is a 79mm and 103mm bore or the other way of doing it...

Teh Axis 2.35 is the 2.2L stroked to 2.35. The advantage of that block is the strong closed deck. Just like Homemade posts.

You could de-stroke a 2.5L down to 2.35 as well, but I don't know anyone to have done it. You'd have to offset the wrist pin by 4 mm to make up for the loss of stroke, and that would require custom pistons.

I'd just get the EJ257 block or if you need more strength sleeve it.
