2004 2.5 Rs
Hi guys,
I pop by a subaru dealer today and finally saw the 04 RS. All I can say is yuck! First, I looked at the interior, the seats were so ugly and cheap, the "pattern" on the fraberic is like those cloth in corollas. Glad that our 02-03 RS has a nice color and way better looking. (BTW the 04RS seats are not the same as the 04WRX) I also sat in the WRX seats, 02 seats are better, more side supports, but the 04 WRX looks nicer. Second thing I notice was the rear bumper. The 04s doesnt have the little "rear spats" that hangs down on the sides of the rear bumper, which us 02-03 has and looks much sharper. Third, I found out that moonroof is NOT an option for the RS. (Good!) Fourth, the gauge is changed, but the RPM is not in the middle like the WRX! (which is a gain for 02-03s because ours is the exact same as WRX) Fifth, tail lights are very ugly. (02-03 are better looking) Lastly, fogs are too little, no more "impreza style". Just wanted to share it with other fellow 02-03 RS owners because we thought that we got ripped off by subaru since the 04 gets spoiler, leather wrap pieces, fogs, etc etc....and that they made a new face lift after 2 yrs. BUT, I am glad I got the 02RS! Now I felt much better!!

I saw a silver 04 RS at DD also
its not bad, i agree the taillights do look pretty ugly and the interior isnt as good as 02-03 but everything else seems okay. Im satisfied with my car both models look good, those new lights suits the rest of their lineup a lot more. |

I am disappointed that soc takes the big fog light away, but you can get the JDM/EDM big fog light conversion. Just like what we have done on our GC8s

thats not what u said before, mr. light conversion ;D The round lights are much more unique, and less RSX/Civic look. My 2 cents. -YaoShi |

I've got a GM
So that makes my RS a GM6!!! 6-denotes the engine type I believe.
So in truth, none of us have a real GC8, unless we have imported a true 4-door WRX from Japan or overseas! Hypa - a GM8 would be wicked LaterZ! Darren!! |

I'd still take a GG6 over a GF4 any day. The GG hatch styling looks so much better.

do you guys notice that the 2004s headlight has the same shape design as the '99 Corollas? I just noticed it today, when I looked at a Corolla closely |

I think the large, round foglights were a subaru "trademark" trait, and the're probably the biggest loss. The redesigned nose looks like just about every other Japanese made economy car and I think it's lacking some of the agressiveness of the last two models. |

jftam, that's an awesome link.
As the guy said, the mechanical side is easy. The wiring is a bugger, but I wonder if it would be easier if someone didn't use the latest, greatest motor. That tangle of wires scares me. |

Too bad it isn't just a nice plug-and-play system. Don't forget, he probably needed to change the front crossmember AND sway bars as well as a few other things that weren't mentioned. I'm surprised he kept the stock style clutch and stock tranny! Perhaps I'll wait for an STi to get rear-ended and be written off - then I"ll grap the engine and ECU from it! I can dream, can't i? LaterZ! Darren!! |

Go ahead and continue to be stoked Superhero Just ignore the many bitter 02-03 owner who had their fun ruined the same way by GC owners a mere two years ago, and then have to endure Subaru's desertion of their car today. We're bitter alright

-S-,
its different for us though, our cars were only 2yrs, then changed, with more added back features from the GCs too. GC8s had their model for like what? 4 yrs?, thats like the subaru timeline for face lifts. |

Longer than that, I can recall seeing MY94 Impreza L's for sale around town, that is if you're talking about body style... when they started putting the EJ20T on the impreza's, I really don't know. But I would think it's longer than 4 years.
