Question Cheap COILOVER kits on Ebay

Hey,

Does anyone know what the deal is with the CHEAP coilover kits advertised on e-bay both with and w/o springs? All they say is that they adjust right height 0-4". These kits are everywhere on there!

Just wondering if anyone was curious enough to spend the $80 and willing to admit it!

Let me know.

THanks,

B-Kerr

Default thanks...

Don't worry, I wasn't going to buy them unless I had very strong proof that they were worth buying. And I do know to be suspicious of items on ebay! Just seeing if anyone had tried them.

They are like ground controls only not as high quality. I have also seen them with absurdly high spring rates. The stock dampers can not handle 500lb/in springs.

I just can't comprehend why people are constantly buying the ebay products.

It is way more cost effective to just do springs and you will be much happier...even on your stock struts.

you want coil overs...save the pennies for a few months to get it done...learn from those that have made the mistakes already.

buy quality...even if it comes less often.

it's like this...if you're gonna spend the money on a hooker....pony up the extra couple hundred and get a clean one that gets screened. Not that I have ever done that... seriously....

You've got a $24k car, please don't buy $80 coilovers.

If you're going the cheap route, a decent set of springs can be had for about twice the amount of those coilovers, and your stock struts will like you a lot more.

Lightbulb

You'll feel every bounce and sooner or later its going to start giving out and you'll lose an inch or so more from its original drop.

I have the Skunk2 Coilover Sleeves for 1yr now @2.5" drop and they've been good, and at $300 you assume they'll hold out and they have...Sooo you get what you pay for....

Cool Never fear

I just bought a set of H&R springs last night. As I said, I was just curious about them because they were everywhere.

Default i bought some of those ebay springs

heh yea i had a set of those cheap e-bay coil overs on my last car. they suck! for one it's just a threaded sleeve that goes over your existing shock, and they give you rubber o rings to fit to size. the spring rate is ridiculously too high... count on not trying to drink with a straw unless you want to get speared in the back of your mouth! and you cant lower them up to four inches, i think the total drop was like 2, because the lock mechanisms are about an inch tall and the spring rests on those!

bottom line..... just buy real ones.

I always wanted to buy a Civic and put those on it and dump it. It would be funny.
