Default romraider/ecuflash?

is this the prefered method of tuning? it seems like it would be better tham having a "contoller" plugged in all the time. has anyone had any major problems using this method?

This is the only free way of tuning Subaru's atm. The RomRaider devs are looking to implement realtime tuning (called ram tune) so that you can tune on the fly, but it will still require an installed of RoMRaider to work, so you'll still need a laptop or PC of some kind - and there is no eta on when and if ram tune will be ready for general use.

ATM the only free option is to download your ROM with ECUFlash, open the ROM in an ecu editor (RomRaider, ECUFlash etc) and then make changes to the ROM as required. Then save it and reflash it using ECUFlash.

So the tuning process is pretty much log, download ROM, edit ROM, save ROM, reflash ROM, log again and repeat as required.

If you want something with a hand controller, you'll have to look towards one of the aftermarket ECU upgrades available for your car.

I've been tuning my own car as well as all my friends cars using OS for over a year now and I have never had a single problem with the RomRaider/ECUFlash combo. Works great in my opinion. Though I do suggest doing all of your editing in RomRaider due to it being easier to use.

Can't wait for R/T tuning!!!

Did you download the the latest release candidate (rc4) or just download via the link on the main page?

The "stable" release is now outdated and should actually be removed. Pleas register on the RomRaider.com forums and then download the latest release candidate and the latest ECU and Logger definitions to ensure everything works without any problems

Do not get one of the china tactrix knock off cheapo for $35. Go to Tactrix website and get the real one. The clones do not have the proper components to properly terminate OBD from PC, in addition to clone firmware lacking updates.

this is so true! a friend of mine ordered one fo the knock offs for $35 from wish or somewhere like that and it actually wound up causing his OBDII port to have the pins come with it when he pulled it out and now i have to spend all of the weekend re-pinning the OBDII port for him...can you say chiropractor?

i bought one of those. worked well until my constant in and out of the car broke the cable. bought another and it is working well still. build quality is garbage so you have to be delicate with it.
