That turbo 4 in the Crosstrek would have me at the dealership in like 0.2 seconds.

They'll never do it.

A simple 'yes' would have sufficed.

Yes or no answer? With no details? On an internet forum? No way!

Oh add the 2014 Crosstrek Hybrid

EJ255/7 in GD era. If any XT vehicle makes sense it’s the Crosstrek. It’s name is literally that. It’s also a successful model with a demographic that might support a performance carute.

I would think theyd put the 1.6T in it at some point. Honda is putting Subaru to shame with the 1.5T. It makes the Civic fun to drive again.

A WRX'd Crosstrek would have absolutely kept me from buying my R.

But now we'll likely be replacing our Outback with a new VW Atlas instead of a Subaru Ascent, because both the wife and I have been blown away at the niceties provided in a high-end VW.

Subaru just lost customers. As many of us have said, don't screw over the enthusiasts...

VW seems to pick up what Subaru drops.
2019 Alltrak SEL wagon now has a 6MT to go with the 1.8T. Very tempting if you can find one with a good discount.

And they don't seem to give 2 flying F's.

I'm now 3 vehicles past booby, all different manu's. VW, Nissan, and Ford. And my next purchase will be an AWD Honda. So long.....

Gen 1 Legacy turbo. IIRC the turbo came out 1 or 2 years after the Legacy was released.

The market is very small if that is true. Combined Golf Sportwagen and Alltrak sales were ~14k units in 2018 (VW does not break them out); this is really not that high given that includes FWD and AWD models. When I bought a 2014 FWD Jetta Sportwagen TDI, sales were in the mid 20k's. One would have thought the raised 4WD would have added significant sales.

We’ve been talking about a XT XTrek for years now. Ever since the Levorg was held back. But we finally have an XT Outback to ponder instead and I’m grateful for that. Not the CVT mind you, but I was prepared to buy the Levorg if it were CVT only, so not going to piss on it. I really wish VTD was in the cards. There’s no mention of it so I guess there could be the possibility. Perhaps in the Legacy XT. Doubtful.

At the end of the NASIOC day, I’d rather buy an XT Legacy or Outback over a Forester XT.

I hadn't thought about it, but if I got really sick of my Impreza and wanted a turbo wagon if there was no hatch STI, I might wind up in an OBXT.

Why would you buy an Outback XT but not the Outback 3.6R? More linear power, no need for premium? Same price (maybe even cheaper than the 2.4T).

I was waiting for OBXT because of gas mileage, and maybe gas grade, but with a turbo I know I'd always give it the most premium gas.

Atlas compared to the Ascent isn't even a comparison, you clearly have no feel for the market or quality.

Subaru says FA24DIT runs on 87.
Ascent's owners manual recommends 87 AKI and says nothing about running premium or even mid-grade gas for better/best performance.
I'm skeptical, to say the least. I would personally run 91 in that thing.
But, on paper, assuming 87 gas is fine, an FA24DIT Outback *might* be peppier at elevation compared to an EZ36 Outback.
It's hard to say right now, but the Outback XT *might* be a tiny bit lighter than the outgoing 3.6R. One can hope .

The mucho heavier Ascent is equal to or even quicker (definitely at elevation) on regular gas than an Outback 3.6R. I drove an Outback 3.6R to compare to my Legacy GT wagon. Does not compare. Cant wait to see what kind of beans the OBXT got.

Yup. I have a '17 Civic hatch with the 1.5T. It's awfully quick for a basic commuter car. Plus I'm averaging 36mpg over the ~19k miles I've put on it. I just really want AWD and some ground clearance for snow, camping, etc.

I have snow tires on mine and it's great in snow. I think I'd want AWD if it was over 200 hp, although the GTI drove fine with the LSD.

I wonder if I could get away with just snow tires... We live on a STEEP (~15%) hill.

If anything it makes more sense to sell a higher trim, premium model while sales are high, because you're more guaranteed to sell them.
