COBB SF Intake Leak & Identification
So, I've been trying to track down a vacuum leak for some time now. Under light load, 20-30%, the car hesitates and rocks back and forth. Like a V8 with a cam. I've conducted numerous smoke tests on the intake system and exhaust and have only discovered one leak, and it's a weird one.
The MAF housing seems to be leaking around the MAF sensor itself. I replaced the gasket with a new one, but it still leaks. I then used some soapy water to see if any air bubbles would lead me to a small crack or something. I discovered one small leak but I'm not sure where it is coming from. I began to do some research on the intake itself to see if anyone else has had this problem and I've noticed that my COBB SF intake does not match any of the COBB intakes for a 2004 WRX. It also doesn't match any of the intakes that COBB makes. I've attached a picture of the one that I currently have installed. Does anyone recognize the intake? Thank you, SJ

If you purchased this new. I would call and let cobb know and see if they can get a replacement out to you.
If it were me i'd sell the cobb and run the stock box as it performs way better than the SF. Also try switching out the maf with a new or a known working one to see if the MAF is bad. |

Just run a bead of RTV or epoxy or superglue around the seam to seal it up.
That section is never pressurized under boost, it's only under vacuum |

I'm still having a hesitation issue. The stock airbox helped some, but it's still noticeable. I'm going to try and clean the MAF Sensor with some CRC MAF cleaner next. I've done a complete smoke test of the exhaust and intake system. I'm lost...
