moving car after engine pulled
I have a pretty tight garage so cant fit the car in along with an engine crane.
Once the engine has been removed from the car, is there any thing stopping the car being manually rolled out of the way? I assume the transmission mounts can hold the gearbox ok? Thanks.

What can stop you?
- Leaving the transmission in gear - Leaving the parking brake on - Leaving the garage door closed - Not clearing a path behind the car Other than that, you should be fine and yes, the transmission mounts will hold the transmission in place as long as you tighten up the bolts. |

Thanks for confirmation, I've never pulled a Subaru engine before, so just wanted to check that removing the jack from under the transmission with no engine supporting it wont cause something unexpectedly bad to happen. |

There are some engine support bars that rest on the inside of the fenders that are used for this exact situation. You can find them at Harbor Freight if you have them near you. You can move the car but I would not let the trans sag for too long or you will eventually kill the trans mount, but for a few mins it should be just fine.

All you need to do is both the transmission cross members back into place and they will hold the transmission just fine with zero issues. The transmission is not supported by the engine. It is supported by the transmission cross braces. |

The scissor jack would just be used to prop the front of the transmission up to the same height as when its connected to the engine. I would only use the scissor jack as it wont have any overnight sag like a hydraulic jack might and can be fine adjusted unlike engine stands. |
