Default 05 Baja Turbo... And the mods have begun.

I've had the truck about 2 months and so for I've done Megan racing one piece coilovers, air intake, gold BBS rims, yellow fogs and of course the sti emblem in the grill. TBE is next hopefully in the next few weeks then comes under the hood mods. I'll keep everyone posted.

Any ideas would be great cause as everyone knows with a Baja you gotta get creative

Very interesting, I love the stance with your body color and wheels. Super slick.

The first mod I did on mine was switching to 06-07 wrx front brake calipers. They work with our stock rotors and were a great upgrade. I also hacked up my stock grille, I dont' like the big fat bars.

Those tires look like Kumho Ecsta ASX's. If you ever autocross with them, don't ever do more than 20 runs in a day and be sure to let them cool off. I took 4-month old tires to the wear bars in one test and tune.

Thanks alot. It was fun setting the megans to where I want them. I guess you should know you have the same. I wanted to go a little lower just to see how it would look and take a few pics of it real low but the bump stops in the back stopped me. Yeah I'm gonna do the brake's next. I wanna do the grill also and even bought everything to do it but chickened out once I had the grill in my hand. I'm gona wait till I find a used grill and mod that one the way I want. This way if I don't like the way it comes out I still have the original. Thanks again

Hehe, an excellent plan, I drove around without a grille for 2 weeks while I worked on mine. Like an idiot. Tinkering with the damping rates was fun (and helpful at autox). I <3 the MR coilovers.

Wow! Those do look fantastic on your baja! Nice choice.

If you are looking for some finishing touches sometime, you can get BBS lug nuts (black or I think they have a couple other colors to choose from) from BBS North America for about $100. You have to call them to order though... there is no option to buy them from their website.

There are black ebay motegi lugs for subaru for 25-30 bucks a set. Group A parts also has some very sexy dark anodized aluminum lugnuts for 40 bucks maybe.

I like the look of the wheels, but it looks like more sidewall is needed. How badly is your speedo off?

the tires are still the factory sti size. They are 225/45/17 I'll proberbly go with 235/50 when its time for tires but the speedo is really close the difference in size from the original rims and tires to these are at most a 1/4 inch. If anything its showing i'm going faster then i am. That might be a good thing.

Your speedo is 3% off, I'm using the same size tire/wheel combo. It reads 3% high, so I've actually been speeding less.

According to the trusty old wheel calculator http://www.miata.net/garage/tirecalc.html you're speedo is reading 4 mph faster than you're actually going. A 245/50 would be a perfect match, but the 235 is close enough(.9 mph) and has a bigger tire selection.

Thanks everyone.I'm gonna drop the front about another 1/2inch. Right now the car is even. I wanna be a bit lower in the front so if I have anyone in the back it won't be sagging. Then its off for a alignment. I would love to go with 245/50 but I think they may be to wide and I don't wanna worry about rubbing.

Well I just ordered the black buddy club lugs and also just picked up a set of 06 wrx 4 pots for the front. I guess my exhaust will just have to wait a bit longer

Sweet, those 4 pots are gonna look sexy. There's a ton of companies that make good pads for them too.

Many of us are running low-profile tires, so our assesments may be on the rougher side.

For me, if I set them for comfort, they're allright, about as 'bouncy' as the regular baja-t suspension over standard roads. When things get rough, the ride can be on the harsh side, and potholes are LOUD and jarring. My GF doesn't seem to mind ('cept the potholes.) The pillowball upper mounts do transfer more noise into the body of the car and into the cabin. The dramatic reduction in body roll makes turning smoother and more comfortable as well.

*I'd also like to say that the traction on my stock tires is a joke, If I drive any harder than 4/10 they start squealing and complaining. On my summer tires, all is well.

I picked up mine on ebay for $830 shipped. There is one guy on there that sells them. I offered him a biy less then his buy it now price was. My offer was $770 and he took it. Heres the link http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/MEGAN...2em118Q2el1247

As for the ride being its a performance suspension its really not bad. Of course its a bit harder then stock but its bearable. I do a good amount of driving in the city with bumps holes anf large dips and it suprised me how good it rides

I guess I need to get pads for a 06 wrx? Also is there any difference between mine and the 06 wrx front rotors? And what about the rear if I wanna put the 2 pots in the back I know I need the conversion bracket but what rotors do I use. Only reason I ask is I want to get drilled and slotted rotors and wanna order the right ones. Thanks

The Baja front rotors are the same as 02-current WRX rotors.

Rear 2 piston calipers- Once you get the calipers mounted (backing plate or adapter bracket etc.) You will then need the 2006-2007 WRX rear rotor. This is a thicker vented rotor than the solid "H6" rotor that comes stock in the rear of the baja.

Also, if ordering aftermarket pads for the 06 calipers, made sure to order all the correct shims and such from Subaru. they can make a lot of noise without them if using a more aggressive pad. Aftermarket pads generally do not come with these but the OEM ones do.

Did the calipers come with all of the hardware? Where did you get them from?

Nope, your rotors are the same.

Rear--you need the rotors and the conversion bracket (but the H6 rotors/caliper we have stock has an excellent balance with the 4-pots on the front)

Drilled/slotted rotors will eat your pads faster than blanks. For a DD/autocrosser, I'm fine using blanks, the holey rotors are just a gimick. Good pads, stainless brake lines, and good fluid will help more.

Yeah they came with all the hardware and the pads and even the rotors. The guy is sending me everything that came off the front. A friend of mine down in Florida got a good deal on brembos on the front so he sold me the 4 pots for really cheap. The car only has 15k miles on it.
