Awesome! I love it. As far as trannys/clutch goes, good luck with the fwd. I've been running fwd legacy trans behind my 3.0 H6 for a few years now. I'm in the hills of Colorado, but when I travel to sea level I typically destroy the transmissions. I'm only putting down just over 200 whp, so I think you're really in for a challenge. It's always diff trouble for me, tear a couple teeth off the pinion and it's game over. I've got about 25k on the swap and been through about 3 transmissions. Also FYI, the ea gears will work in the legacy box, but I took out the 3.7s in less then a month.

Anyway, awesome car! Keep doing that!

Very cool indeed. I have an EG33 I'm putting into my '93GF8 Chumpcar and this only provided more inspiration.

I've seen guys using Griffen and Saab 900 radiators for their swaps but we've been talking about doing a rear mounted radiator, similar setup to yours but reversed. How are your coolant temps with this set up? What piping did you use to and from the radiator? If you've got any pictures of how you did the plumbing that would be great.

Nice project but next time try to do something original.

Kidding, that thing is awesome. Makes me want to learn how to weld and try something like this with a Subaru Brat.

it has a full fire wall. it has plexi-glass in the top section so i can still see...

i drove this car 220miles this weekend to the West Coast Subaru Show. had no issues, got it up to about 75 mph. cruses on the freeway just fine. even in stop and go traffic it did not get hot. even took a 270* off ramp at 40mph to see how she would corner. (suggested speed 25)

this thing drives, and handles better than the stock ea82 car...

Yeah the cables are just over 8.5' long. two cables, one for forward / rearward, and the other for side to side.

14' long hydraulic line for the clutch slave and 8' long radiator hoses/pipes. adds about 1.5 Gallons of coolant...

For the sifter i used one from a Toyota MR2.

Awesome! I'm thinking of doing this with my impreza...

What modification has been done to the rear for control arms etc...?

Any picture of this?

Thanks

I think the way most people do this is to use the front subframe and control arms, then instead of a steering rack, lock down toe with some adjustable arms?

Not sure how he did it.

most people don't do this and this is the first Subaru Mid engine application I was able to find on a Subaru... the only other I found was a Ford escort mid engine.

I like your idea... it could add 4 wheel steering lol.

yes it is a front impreza front sub frame. it has Impreza front control arms, and is does have a front steering rack that i welded so it wont move, and it has toe adjustmemt.

it uses stock motor mounts, and trans mount. but has a custom rear trans crossmember.

What about moving the gas tank to the front for better balance?

that was the plan, but the 15 gal tank is too big... i am planing on getting a 10 gal cell this summer. then maybe a 1/2 or one gal serge tank in the rear.

This mod is a ton of fun to drive. but im not 100% sure why else you would do it.

it is not a drift car. it has to much weight over the rear axle.
its not a rally car. RWD and lots of stuff under to get caught.
could be made into a drag car. hard to get real wide silcks under it.
maybe autocross, but you would have a hard time getting it into any class.
not a burnout car. even with line lock. the front tires just slide around. not enough weight on them...

in short... i would do it again. it has been fun and i love to drive the car, and it turns heads... but other than driving it. i dont know what its purpose in life is...
