As for food I always bring something but the last time I went they did feed me. I think it was a special treat for the season finale. I will likely attend providing I can find someone to sit on my kid. I never understood why people call them babysitters. Its a fun time without too much work.
Thank you very much. That was some good insight. I just put a whole bunch of suspension components and got my car to stop misfiring so this will be great to really take it out and see what it can finally do at almost 100%. Would you recommend bringing like a pop up tent to sit under or some pop up chairs? Also, do they allow spectators? I'm sure there are more people with some input on their experience at the ADSI events.

Went to Devens for nesvt's event on Saturday. I had a few hairy runs in the morning as it was a bit wet but started drying up pretty early. Once I found where I was going off course (first 2 runs) I had my best time on my 3rd or 4th run then the car started acting up. I have gone through 3 motors within 40k miles so I decided to sit the afternoon out. I managed to bring home a 2nd place (novice) trophy (coffee cup). I thought the worst for the motor but it was simply a vacuum hose.

Got my ass kicked pretty good down at the SCCA NJ ProSolo this weekend. Had to sit out on day #2 though due to a broken drivers side Group-N motor mount. I'm pretty sure it broke when launching on my last run of day #1.

I've already ordered up some new solid mounts as replacements. Luckily I was able to drive the car 225 miles home without any issues.

ADSI is just a cone course on a runway that is along the ocean. So, there is no real shelter and it can get very hot or very cold depending on the time of the year and the weather that day. It is often a bit breezy being right on the water and with all the open space. Some people have brought pop up tents (not me personally) and I usually bring along a couple pop up chairs, but I rarely use them. There is very little down time at these events. I'm usually either on the course, checking times, riding along with other drivers or grabbing a quick snack.

They don't specifcally allow "spectators," but I have seen people bring their significant other or a friend or two as part of their "pit crew" and there has never been an issue with that.

I will be at this Sunday's open house at ADSI and will probably take a few laps in the Miata. Hope to see some of you there!

No pictures up yet that I know of for the NE-SVT event this past weekend, will do a full write once I find some. Glad it was just a hose and not the motor though, congrats on the trophy!

Thanks. I was glad to get the trophy but ecstatic to make it home without a tow truck!

NE-SVT at Devens

April 20th, 2013

7:00 AM out of my window at Devens looking at the seemingly nonexistent field of cars for the first NE-SVT event of the season, clearly due to the 38 degree temps, 20 MPH winds and everyone's favorite track condition....

As you can imagine with cold tires, pools of water and still a bit of rust hanging around from the off season there was quite a bit of action early on. Several spins, 2 from yours truly

Around 10:00 the track had dried, tires had warmed and the event was going strong. This didn't stop Matt from having fun in his Miata doing what Miata's do!

Around lunch time the event had already claimed 2 cars . Brad in his 08 STi thought he encountered the dreaded ring land issue again, come to find out it was simply a hose issue. Then John in his 90 AWD Tsi with a broken wheel stud. (Talk about driving the wheels off it!)

Due to the course setup, station 6 ended up working their butts off to keep things running smooth (and did a nice job of it). Workers counted over 70+ cars hit 1 of 2 cones in the 5 runs after lunch alone. I believe the longest streak of cars to not cone in that particular element was 4!

Luckily this didn't stop Mike and his passenger in his 2012 Evo X from crossing the finish line with smiles all around

All in all I think speak for everyone when I say we had a blast. 10 runs with lunch provided all for under $60! If you're thinking about getting into Auto-X in the New England region, NE-SVT is one of the best starting points out there. I was glad to meet the new people that I did and was happy to see quite a few of the regulars stop by and say hello.

Thanks to Nick Crovo for the pictures (except the first crappy I Phone pic) Check out more of his work here:

http://nickcrovo.com/

If you are interested in a full spread sheet of the times please PM me and I can forward it to you, as long as you promise not to laugh at my times...

Don't forget, SCCA is holding an event at Devens on the 5th of May! So put the down Carona's and come out for some coneage....

Hope to see you there!

-Warren

I attended that today, I had a blast. My lap time was 1 minute 49 seconds, not my car however.

ADSI yesterday was great. The motor didn't blow up so it was a good day. My best time was 1:32... This is a great place to shake your car down and get some helpful tips for other competitive events.

Nick Crovo has always had some amazing photos from these events! Good to see some old faces and meet some new people, had an awesome time. Best run of the day was my last run with Brad. My parents also randomly showed up, took my dad for a run and almost gave him a heart attack. He cursed at me throughout the entire run, but I just went flat out.

Hey Matt, that was my best run of the day as well. I had more fun riding shotgun in your miata than I did driving. I need a miata now! Nice oversteer control. I think you are ready for slicks.

Yes and No, we installed the coilover setups and camber plates the night before but never had time to align it or get aligned. Since I'm not used to the car at all I was trying to throw it around to avoid smashing cones, started getting violent wheel hop and steering issues. Toe, caster and camber were so off that we made the call not to run it after lunch. JB left before trophies to go home and take a look at it, he was so pissed off at it that he parked it and went straight to bed. It didn't help that I beat the old man in his own car with 2 runs, I felt bad....

The 1g's falling apart on and off the track...

The GC is loosing wheels and coughing up blood...

May offered to give the title to Clarkson if he admitted "I'm a clot and I've ruined my car", because he had installed highly uprated parts... The result was that during the endurance race, the car repeatedly broke down putting Clarkson out of the running. Clarkson instantly said, "I'm a clot and I ruined my car," then celebrated his "victory".

I guess that's racing. I'm sure next time you and JB won't wait in 'till that last minute to install new parts right before an event...or at least pop your hood to check for a cracked radiator before tech does It for you.

Well, living and working out of state all week then having 1 saturday to finish 3 cars kinda puts a damper on that idea... Not to mention all the drywall, plastering and machine work that got done this weekend as well. If all I had to focus on was the car it would be a different story.
