Amp plugs in directly to HU. Speakers plug into amp. So no difference.

^^ no difference in the harness, the amp gets its audio signal from the back of the HU like stated above from the RCA cables. but you will need to run a remote turn on from the harness (blue wire). but any harness you get should have it.

or you can gheto it and bridge the batt cable with a smaller guage wire and kill your battery every 8 hours lol.

Just did this install based on the OP's instructions. So easy! Thanks!

I haven't had a chance to drive around, but in the confines of my garage it kicks ass. I even called my wife from the car using the built-in Bluetooth. This is easily one of the easiest installs of anything I have ever done.

I have a sgs2 skyrocket and have never used it via usb with my 4400bh.

However I am pretty familiar with most things android.

Make sure USB debugging is enabled in the phone settings.

Also on my skyrocket I have to turn USB storage on manually when the phone detects a USB connection. Make sure you try both of those.

Also grats on trading up from the iPhone.

I finally got sick of the iphone and ATT being a mediocre combo, when the dock port broke on my original iphone 4s I went to Apple and they just handed me a new one, so I decided then was a better chance than any to have a sellable phone and try out an Android. So far it's a million times better. Faster, bigger screen, more freedom. Just have to figure out a solution to this usb to the 4400bh and I'll be golden

Check out this article about the different connection options.

Quote:
As for the numbers, Bluetooth transmissions are full-bandwidth, having a frequency response of 20-20k Hz... As a high-quality, short-range, digital transmission, the Bluetooth process itself should have little or no impact on the sound quality.
As far as getting the meta data to show on the screen I totally understand. I'm not sure what kind of support the GS3 has for that out of the box, but I would keep an eye on the big named custom roms out there like CM and AOKP. My Galaxy Nexus didn't support meta data over the BT when I bought it, but these guys developing the custom roms are awesome and actually coded in support. Now I get full details on my screen when streaming BT when I play the music app.

Just some food for thought. Fulfilling your personal preference is the name of the game

I know you're leaning towards the USB route, but since this is related to what I posted early this morning I figured I'd link it here for you.

http://www.droid-life.com/2012/07/23...ons-galaxy-s3/

It looks like both CM and AOKP are definitely making their way to your new Galaxy S3.

Very informative, thank you. You'd think there would be a solution where you can upgrade your head units firmware to where it supports androids fully. :[

I think the worst thing of all of this is that I had bought the special plug for the head unit too,not even opened yet.

This is probably a dumb question guys, but is there any possible way to play phone navigation via Bluetooth from any mode except the Bluetooth Audio mode? I'm guessing no since they probably want you to either upgrade to a Nav unit or spend tons of money on the AVIC-U220 Nav adapter. Just figured I'd ask.

Yes, correct. Radio, CD, or Ipod for example.

Yeah that's what I figured. I do have some music on my phone but I'd have to keep changing it out. Maybe I'll actually sign up for Spotify or something. Thanks slowhat. I figured you'd know the answer.

Interesting. I'll have to look into that. Not sure why I wasn't aware of Google Music...I mean...they do everything else.

Yes, google music "all the things"!

You can then access your music without it being locally stored (I'm assuming you have an android device?).

Also if you you have a phone that is supported by either AOKP or CyanogenMod, they have actually enabled metadata over bluetooth, so when listening to your google music songs all the info gets properly sent to your Pioneer's display

I recently put an AVH-P4400BH in my 2012 Impreza Limited. It was a painless install. Get in touch with David Carter for the correct 20-pin harness and ASWC. The hardest part of the install was fishing the remote mic cable. If anyone wants to know which flash drive to use with the Pioneer, I had to try many. The OCZ Diesel and the PNY Attache (the oldest version your can find) work flawlessly.
