The whole bottle.....some people use 2. There are instructions somewhere out there on mix ratios. I've seen them.

Or you can use 2-3 drops of dish soap.

Does the same thing, saves you $4.49. 2 bottles? What lemmings

Now, before anyone tries to raise the BS flag, go learn some basic chemistry and thermodyamics, and you will understand what I am speaking of.

Is it safe to use Redline Water Wetter in cold temperatures?

There are many tip/tricks/tweaks here that are good. Can you embellish your tip so that I might save myself the $2000 worth of chemistry and thermodyamics lessons to save $4.49?

It is my understanding that water wetter won't effect the freezing point of your coolant. Water Wetter is merely a surfactant, which in essence, allows a better contact between the coolant and the engine wall surface. Surfactants are found in detergents as bvl noted, but I for one, wouldn't squirt any Dawn into my radiator. There is merit to this premise though if someone could come up with some ratios that are brand specific for the type of dish soap.

If there are no downsides how come not too many people use water wetter? Are there any downsides? just curious because I may try this too.

I've used it since I bought my car and used it in other HP vehicles and never had any problems. My car has never gotten too hot even with the AC going in the 100° Florida summer.
The way I see it is if it saves your ass even once, it's worth it.
I only use one bottle

You are correct, I do not have the exact ratios that shows how much dish soap per gallon of distilled water. But its not an exact science similar to how you can dump a whole bottle of water wetter in: you are not measuring to exact H20 capacity of radiator, nor the blend of H20 to coolant.

Which is why I said 2-3 drops. Its more then sufficient. No reason to take it to a senior thesis project to see the differences between Dawn, Palmolive, and Ivory (probably require some spectral analysis, no? Geek factor high here, but a bit overkill )

I find it to be mostly marketing. It really does not do a whole lot, unless you have a real temp gauge, and can see a 5 deg delta (most do not). If you are having cooling problems, running a thinner blend of H20 to coolant appropriate for the temperature outside is the way to go.

BTDT on my aftermarket turbo car, where heating issues are common as the OEM system was not designed for that type of heat dissipation, as opposed to the stock WRX system which is. On the miata, I run 75/25 in the summer.

Just food for thought. Hey, its your 4.49. Thats a buck for the bottle, 3 for the water, 9 cents for the soap, and 40 for the coloring agent.

So im told 70/85% water and 30/15% coolant with one bottle of Water Wetter will work for ya. Where its more likely to freeze you would be better off with less water and more coolant using the above ratios.....This from a freind in Seatle Washington with a twin turbo supra using 70/30 in the winter and 85/15 in the summer.

I would also think this inst for real extreme cold ...anything below freezing daily.... better safe then sorry 50/50.

I will just add this link for help here. It gives concentration data at the bottom.

I was most concerned with over heated vapor pockets in notoriously problematic areas of the Subaru engine. So it's just a little extra insurance if you have "hopped up" the engine.

Actually I think a 10% salt solution would have nice heat capacity, freezing point depression, and boiling point elevation characteristics, but obviously there would be some severe side effects.
