Obviously a power difference between the two. My 08 stage 2 did 240 whp 315 ft lbs. No idea what kind of dyno but the torque number makes me happy haha.

Wow, the 09's must be underrated at 265 if they put down 240 at the wheels stock. A loss of only 25 HP between crank and wheel seems awfully efficient... Less than 10% loss (9.4%). That just seems awfully low. Although I'm new to the forced induction game so I may very well be completely off base.

Is there a relatively standard percentage of power loss that cars see? And further, are our Subies so rad that they are way more efficient at power transfer?

But that '08 will likely have as much TQ to the wheels as the 09'.
Peak HP isn't everything

P.S. My '09 on the dyno in the video I just posted did 280whp, Stage1.

The '09s are underrated, and there is a ton of drivetrain loss. My guess is the 240whp translates to roughly 290-295hp at the crank.

Before the mod bug bit me I just had a AEM cai, Invidia dp and N1 race exhaust got a tune For stage 2 it put down 230hp/280tq at 14psi and my turbo would max out and drop boost to 11psi thats when I decided the TD04 was no good and upgraded!!

Ahh I gotcha. I thought the loss was up there hah. Tons of fun either way. I just found a shop local enough to me that works on Subies and seems to have a great reputation so I'm going to take a ride over there and hopefully in due time end up on their dyno tuning my 08.

Very true!! No, its not, but after the initial power the car drops off and where is the fun in that??

Yea, the numbers I was referencing were all from EFi's dyno as dif dynos will give you different numbers and I wanted to keep it uniform...

http://www.efilogics.com/dyno/

Agreed on the 09s being underrated. They needed to keep the STi as that "top of the line vehicle" but iirc car and driver was able to do 0-60 and 1/4 mile faster than the STi...

It does. Almost the same power, lower weight, and better gearing for the 1/4.

I wouldn't do any more than 320/330 on regular gas, meth or e85 will keep the engine "safe" at 350 +\- with a proper tune, but the vf52 torque capability is a bit concerning on the corn juice!

Good thing I don't have a vf52 haha
I would love to get e85 tune but there is only 2 gas stations in my area with e85 and I drive far all the time I don't want to end up stranded lol

I have a gas tune I use for traveling and e85 tune for playing close to home.

If it's near and available just get 2 tunes!

How does that work just run it till empty and refuel with new gas? What size injectors are recommended I'm on 750cc will that be fine?

Hence the /tranny part... Case flex begins to become an issue at this point

It is my understanding after talking with several people who work on them that the 08+ wrx tranny does not really have a case flex issue.
The gears just can't handle much north of 400wtq.

Mine has been fine even with a couple launches.
I got the SB stage 2 drag clutch rated at 495 crank tq. it's under rated for my car to help reduce stress on the transmission.

It should slip before things break!
Fingers crossed!
Lol

I've heard the same about the case flex. Thrust angles or somethingruther...

Also Chris F at Cobb put 430 wtq through his Bugeye "glass trany" for 2 seasons of pro solo before it went.

Being in the red zone 350whp+ with stock motor & tranny isnt about IF, its WHEN. Lol. Just curious to see whos up there and what theyre doing. Ive been @ 325whp for a short period of time. Fun. But I want more.

In other news. Upgraded to a 2011+ WRX / STi HU. Now with Bluetooth Audio streaming!. Oddly enough, only 3 of 4 plugs fit. Everything works except AUX. Which I assume is the other plug. But still! Im happy.

I also may or may not have picked up some Tanabe DF210 springs.
