Yes, I see now that you are in the group as well as the data group. You should do a tutorial on your video and data setup for the data group. That would help out a number of the members.

I can do a series of videos. Ideally, I'd like to have a car that I'm installing the system into, instead of pointing at what I've done. I know my videos are lengthy, but I want people to go through the entire process with me while I run into challenges and figure out solutions.

I HATE videos that say, I did this and bam its done. Not helpful at all.

I'll ask the group what is helpful to them and see if I can create a series of videos that might helps someone get started.

We took the car out to Sonoma Raceway this past friday. What a track! It was my first time there, but I had a few hours inside of the simulator to try to familiarize myself with the line. It went pretty well. Here is the fastest lap of the day and a video of the car chasing down a M4 and C5 Corvette.

Video 3 in the series covering how to create the perfect track/autox video. We start to dive into some basic canbus sniffing and reverse engineering. Most cars have a ton of data been feed to the ecu, with a little time and effort you can sniff this data and log it for your own purposes.

We are covering some basic sniffing to get our feet wet. In the next two videos I'll share a few more can bus tricks.

Video 4!

In the last video I covered sniffing and decoding the hard way. If you have any diagnostic tools for your car, it can help accelerate what you can find and reverse engineer on the canbus. We do this for a Porsche but the idea is the same across all cars.

In the next video we'll talk about active ecu requests for information.

The diff has been ticking slightly when making full lock turns. Pretty much only notice it during parking lot or paddock situations. I assume this means the fluid needs to be changed because normally it's none quiet.

So some quick maintenance on the diff. Fluid change and fresh thread sealant on the temp sender. Sender has been leaking slightly and I think it's from my last fluid change having not reapplied sealant.

The ticking in your diff is pretty weird, were there any chunks of metal in the oil when you changed it?

Just metal dust like you'd see from your trans.

Cusco says 10k miles for daily driving and less depending on usage. I had 5k in the diff fluid so it seems like it falls in line with their fluid change interval.

Saving the best for last. In this video we cover active ecu requests via can bus. Instead of passively sniffing for information, we making an active request to the ecu for a specific parameter. In the case of Subarus we are taking advantage of Subarus SSM via can bus implementation.

You must have an AP or a Subaru diagnostic tool for this. We are essentially programming our datalogger to mimic the Subaru diagnostic tool.

Quick question - Is your rear differential temperature sensor an aftermarket part? I have a 2018 WRX and just recently did a rear differential fluid replacement, and I did not see such a part on the drain or fill plugs.

Aftermarket. Installed to make sure I don't melt the rear lsd.
