![]() After some requests to create a thread for it, I decided to make one on here for those who followed my progress on my '05 STi I sold last year.
So here it is, the thread for my R34 GT-R. My two old cars, regretfully sold: ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() However, I was really a Nissan fanboi with a Subaru. Then in 2017 I added to the garage and bought a brand new Focus ST3 as a daily, but that didn't last long; after only one winter took it off daily duties because I just wanted to take care of it. I am super particular and really like to take care of my things and keep them nice. I kept it mostly stock except for a couple deletes, wheels and a Cobb exhaust. ![]() ![]() ![]() Then things happened in my life late in 2019 and I sold the cars soon after that for personal reasons and moved to Denver this past summer. I dearly miss those cars but I had already decided in winter of 2018 that I was going to try to do what I could to afford the absolute dream of mine....an R34 GT-R. Selling the cars made up some of the funds for the Skyline. Like I said I was really a Nissan guy with a Subaru. I got nearly top dollar for the STi at the time, and got what I asked for on the ST. It's nice to see that well-taken care of older gen STis are being appreciated and commanding good prices, because the pool of nice examples sure is dwindling. So I made the moves and got in touch with Top Rank Importers in California and got the ball rolling. I had already started getting parts for the car I didn't even have! After waiting for things to line up, I was able to start the search in early September. I had been keeping a close eye on the R34 market for some time now and was anxious as prices have been continuing to climb with no sign of stopping near a reasonable level. Hell, if I had bought even a year ago I would have saved a load of money. It's really crazy what these are going for.....but such is the way of things, especially when there are so little in the wild, let alone examples for sale. I kept seeing so many nice cars get away from me, and I soon became pretty pessimistic that I wasn't going to make it happen; I thought I was too late. Then one night I was looking at auction cars and saw one that I liked yet again. I reached out to Top Rank again and gave them a number I was willing to bid to. After several confirmations and messages, I gave them the green light. Then I waited. As luck would have it, I received a message a few hours later late at night that I had won. I couldn't believe it, I was just floored. Granted, my search wasn't as long as some others, I was sure that I had missed the boat budget-wise. Needless to say, that night I basically didn't sleep I was so excited. Finally....I had a GT-R of my own. At this point, I'm still over the moon. It's a November of 2000 Series II GT-R with 95k km in WV2 Sparkling Silver. Unfortunately with US import restrictions, I have to wait exactly five years to bring it over, so it's going to stay in Top Rank Japan's warehouse until then. I do plan on going over there once or twice a year once the borders open to check in, drive it and do some modifications to it, so this is a journey that I'm looking forward to, even though it will be a long process. It is a one owner car with no accidents. It does have some modifications, including HKS turbos(unknown which type at this time), a Trust PE Ti-R exhaust, Nismo S Tune suspension, and TE37SLs, among some other things. I plan to do a lot more to this car; it's gonna get pampered since it's my ultimate dream car. It does need some things replaced, but that will be done in time. Overall, the car is very good and was a grade 3.5B at auction. I already bought parts before I even knew I was going to have an example of my own. I'm reasonably sure about my mod path and an overall goal, however I have a lot to consider about how I'm going to get there, I'm not shooting for monster power though. Whatever comes with the mods I plan is what power I'll be happy with. Whether it be through Omori, Mine's, Midori Seibi, Garage Saurus, etc. or build myself through a stack of parts. Time will tell....but expect this car to be in Denver in five years. I have build threads on SAU, GTR Life, Skyline Owners, and GTR UK with the same moniker and on Instagram @denver_r34. Pics in posts below. Thanks for reading/looking.

![]() Super Epic!
Congrats. That’s going to be a long 5 year wait to get it here but well worth it. |

![]() That thing is stunning. I gave you major props because as patient as I am, I don't know if I'd be able to wait 5 years to finally drive that thing on my home turf. At least it's yours for certain now though and you can bet that in 5 years that thing will be worth even more than what you've already paid for it - not that it sounds like you'd ever sell it, but still nice to know you have something that will only go up in value for the foreseeable future.
Congrats again! |

![]() Yeah thank you! It'll be a long wait and will be hard, but nothing worthwhile comes easy. It will for sure be worth more by the time it can come here, but I don't ever plan on selling, so no biggie. Definitely an investment though.

![]() Thanks guys!
Thought I'd share a few pics of just some of the ever growing stock of parts I have ready to go on the car: Nismo intercooler straight from Omori ![]() Black Nismo cluster. I paid a little over MSRP for this, but someone I know recently sold one for $4K! They were discontinued in December and prices went through the roof. ![]() HKS Super Turbo titanium 45th Anniversary Edition - 1 of 20 worldwide for the R34 ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() 'til later Last edited by BaronOBeefdip; 03-13-2021 at 05:00 PM. |

![]() Super nice!
That's crazy that you can't bring it home for 5 years! We're so lucky where I live that we can see these so commonly, and import them as we wish (to a point). I'd be itching to fly to japan as soon as I could if I were in your situation! |

![]() Yeah US import law is ****ing stupid, but it is what it is. Man, New Zealand eh? Yeah you guys love cars there and you have all the great stuff with great roads, hillclimbs, etc. Yes I think about my inevitable Japan trips all the time. Currently learning the basics of Japanese

![]() Good on you for doing it right! Too many people circumvent the import laws and think its fine, but all theyre doing is making it harder to import anything without raising some eyebrows
Car looks amazing! |

![]() Yeah on one hand I was lucky to get in when I did because of the pricing, but on the other I was unlucky because of the pricing haha. Coulda saved a boatload of money had I been able to make it work sooner in the year. |

![]() Mine's parts came in earlier than expected:
![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() I also scored two sets of Willans Nismo harnesses from back in the day. These are the mid-logos from late 90's-early 00's. Very rare and found on Yahoo Japan. The most recent new logo harnesses were discontinued in 2016 and cost even more than the ones I have, when they come up for sale that is. ![]() 'til later. ![]() Yeah it's great. I think it's the best looking Skyline made. However it looks the most like the hakosuka and I can't afford one of those, so I got the next best thing.

![]() Hey all, back with another post about parts. I got the last VSpec front lip that Terra Firma had right when it went to Heritage Program, aka discontinued outside of Japan. It is now double what I paid for it. Yikes.
![]() The CW Collective diffuser I placed an order for in December finally showed up last week. This thing is nice. Can't wait to mount it on the car. ![]() Put a deposit down on an R35 brake set and a Supertec conversion. Gonna be awesome. Also have a Nismo intake plenum arriving from RHDJapan sometime this month. My wallet hates me and probably won't speak to me for years now. ![]() Last edited by BaronOBeefdip; Yesterday at 07:48 PM. |
