I've been able to avoid Walmart for a long time now. Granted it helps that they ain't all that prevalent in the Bay Area.

My palate...she is "unrefined".
Dinner last night:

Mixed steamed veggies
wild rice
pork loin in an apple cider-vinegar-mustard reduction
PB&J
Bologna sandwich

2nd dinners
additional bologna sandwich
olives
banana
yogurt
2 donuts

dessert:
fudge pop
pickles

I live my life a quarter meal at a time. In those 10 seconds, nothing else matters. Not my hotel, not my friends and all their bs, not my house. For those 10 seconds, I am free.

I honestly don't understand the quarantine regulations. I had to go to the ER this past weekend to get some stitches for the little one. Two people in the room, spaced out. As I'm waiting a guy/girl both come in. I hear him tell the security guard the're both positive, he lets the girl through (wearing a mask) who goes to check in, coughs a few times, then passes through. Nurse comes out, wipes off the chair, then tells me to come to check in which I reluctantly do after waiting for the air to clear a bit. I ask 3 separate nurses there if we need to quarantine for being there, considering they get COVID ppl in there all the time. Nope from everyone one of them.

So if I travel out of state or get on a plane, then it's 10 days. Go to the ER - nope, you're fine. Just doesn't make sense to me

lol, my dinner last night:

responsibly farmed fish seasoned with 'creole blend' and tossed in oven for 12 minutes.
spinach tossed in wok with diced bacon and garlic.

I am no chef, Doritos and flan, we'd have to discuss the flavor of Dorito, but I might be onboard.

An extraordinarily fast metabolism and a job that has me running. Anyone else would be a balloon.
I was trying to be more careful, but the past few months I have just kinda said eff it and allow food to be a comfort.

EDIT: And the above doesn't include 1st and 2nd lunch, as well as breakfast.

So took twins to dr to get rapid tests. Twin 1, who had the symptoms yesterday was positive. Twin 2 is negative. We sat in my basement yesterday for 3 hours watching the extended version of The Martian. We have an open PCR test for Twin 2. My guess is she’ll start showing symptoms tonight/tomorrow.

We’ve chosen to self isolate until Feb 14th. Kids will go back to school on the 15th. Fun times!

Taiwan still maintains it was something that escaped from a lab.
https://www.taiwannews.com.tw/en/news/4104828

I still think this is plausible.

There's a big difference between something that escaped from a lab and something that was engineered in a lab. The possibility will always remain that a researcher found something in the field, brought it back to the lab and it got out. China will never be open to a full investigation so the conspiracy theories will always have fuel.

yeah, all those are explaining why the virus wasn't engineered, which I'm onboard with.

escaped from a lab and engineered in a lab are very different.

so nothing you've linked shows that it isn't still plausible that it escaped from a lab.

Chiming in to add my arm soreness was much worse with the Moderna dose than any flu vaccine I've had before, and lasted until about the end of day 3. A nurse friend of ours has said to be expect to down for the count with flu-like symptoms for a day or 2 after dose #2, so be prepared for that.

I'm not surprised by the soreness, but surprised that you'd expect the same on the second dose? Wouldn't your new antibodies be more ready to fight that, thus lessening your symptoms?

Speaking of craziness.

Saturday night, around 5PMish, we ordered pizza from a local place. The Green Bay game was going, for context. I called and asked for curbside, they said they were busy and curbside wouldn't be possible. Fine, I said I'd go inside and pick it up at the hostess stand. It's a Pizza, Bar and Grill. It's split into 2 sections, a small dine in area with 4-5 booths and 4-5 tables on one side and the bar side has maybe 30 tables.

Rules in our county are 25% occupancy or 25 people in a restaurant. I walked in and EVERY SINGLE SEAT was taken. 100% occupancy. There was a line to get in for carry out.

Servers were wearing masks, but I saw 2-3 servers were wearing these chin shield masks that barely covered over their noses.

I left a bad review on Yelp for this place, which is a place we love. It's one of the 2 restaurants we've been to outdoor dining since March. It's also super close to our house, we can and have walked there one of those 2 times we ate outdoors there.

I get the need as a small business owners to want to stay open, I do. That's why we've supported them pretty regularly, but what I saw was ridiculous. I don't think I'll be supporting them anytime soon.

isn't the second shot a double dose?

or more rightly, the first shot is a half dose?

or is that just the one from Brexitlandia?

It's the immune system reacting that makes things worse.

Sure. I am not a doctor. But I thought the initial reaction was worse because the "virus" in the vaccine is new and alien to your system, so your immune system tries lots of things while building antibodies.

For the second dose, antibodies are already in play, so it'd go more smoothly.

I realize this anthropomorphizes your immune system, as if it will only react as much as it tactically needs to.

Doesn't work this way.

Also, both vaccines are the same dose.

What are the rules/regulations for quarantining with multiple household members (+)ve for Covid?

Even with the vaccine? unless there is no interaction with (+)ve family members (easier with an adult versus kids) our local recommendations would not want you out and about.

But as for the 100% occupancy, that is crazy, and would be shut down in our district. Currently there is ZERO indoor or outdoor dining in our province.
