Hi, as the title says, my engine is blown. Can anyone recommend a cheap way to get it towed. Car is located at Pats Peak and needs to be towed to Lebanon NH. Thanks!

60 miles, find a friend with AAA gold.

Id offer to tow it for a few bucks but that becomes 220 miles (5-6 hours) towing...

Its not going to be a cheap tow then. Probably cheapest way is to borrow a truck from a friend and rent a UHaul trailer.

Rent a truck and trailer from Uhaul for the day for about $50-80.

An upgrade to AAA gold would take about 7 days to go into effect. Looks like I'm gonna have to go with uhaul or the generosity of a friend that already has AAA gold.

... mine was instant. They can mark it on your file, so when u call for a tow and do not physically have the "gold card" yet, they can see your gold status on their system if u need to use it that day (which is what I did). I upgraded mine and it only cost $30 total for 4 users in my family. Each person gets 5 tows/yr and up to 100miles each tow. So worth it.

They don't do instant upgrades anymore AFAIK, it makes no sense from a business model for them to do so. I also thought it was limited to three tows/year, giving you up to 20 per year seems crazy.

Don't forget the secret premium membership that gives a 200 mile tow. I have that to cover me getting home from NY lakes if things go sour.

I can't speak to the instant upgrade part, but I have gold and I definitely get 5 tows/calls per year. Last year I used 5 But I've also had gold for as long as I've had a license. Maybe that makes a difference?

I used 5 last year with gold also. I vaguely remember them telling me the third time I had my Chevy towed that I was only allowed a max of 3 tows per vehicle, though.

Per vehicle makes sense I guess. I only towed my STi for 2 out of those 5 tows. The other 3 were friends in need.
