I want to do everything I can to avoid putting in a surge tank until I make it a full blown track car.

Based on your first image/report, your actual injectors DW's only show a ~12.04% increase (814 @ 3bar & 14v to 912 @ 4 bar & 14v) -- not spectacular. Their datasheet (the second image) shows an increase of 15.44% from 3.06 to 4.08 bar of pressure...which would make their flow/pressure relationship only marginally worse than ID

Why does a surge tank make it any less street'ish?

I don't want to loose my trunk to a tank, a pump, and fuel lines just yet especially without a legit firewall.

Just do it in the spare tire spot. Those tanks are awesome.

looks like i have to bump the fuel pressure a bit, close to 75 psi should bring the duty down a bit.
Right now with pump at 100% and stock fuel pressure i'm at 98 duty at 69 psi peak fuel pressure

I really like this idea

Mounts in place of charcoal canister but 1000 bucks for a ****ing peace of metal wttf...

I'll look (hard to search for), I've seen a few people do that. A bad virus killed my pic collection.

Rough one, I've seen much better.

That's exactly what I'm trying to avoid. I still would like to put a set of golf clubs or a dead hooker in my trunk every once and a while.

My personal car. Spare tire well cover sits down flush over it. Radium surge tank with twin Aeromotive 340's, new -6 feed to the engine bay.

I wouldn't run a surge tank behind the rear strut towers in any kind of street car for safety reasons.

If they punt my car hard enough to get to the surge tank, they've also hit the car hard enough to get to the actual fuel tank. Same mentality would say that I should have stopped driving the car as soon as I removed the green brackets.

For whatever reason, Subaru people make a big deal about surge tanks and fuel lines inside of the car. It's not like the fuel lines run the length of the car and right past your feet, straight from the factory...oh wait

Have you ever seen a stock tank damaged in a wreck? I havent.

But if something happens where you back your car into a tree or something on a road late at night with no help, its your choice to have the surge tank in that location where it can be destroyed and start a fire. Its unsafe to have them in the trunk period on the street, but even more so that far back. Thats why i had mine mounted like this with a firewall, and it saw limited street time.

Isn't this to your liking then?: a surge tank and fuel pump (044) in one :

And have you ever seen an in-car surge tank damaged to the point of causing a fire hazard in a wreck? I havent.

I respectfully disagree with your opinion and believe it no more dangerous than a stock vehicle. You likely have zero actual examples to back up your statements. I have a far greater fear of a fire originating from the engine bay than from anything behind the firewall.

I have seen the frame-rail puncture a gas tank, the lines right next to the driver broken in 2 by a side impact.... on stock oem auction cars

Its all the same **** IMO, you hit a stock car or modded one in the right place and your screwed. Honestlly this is the reason if you do any sort of modded fuel setup you SHOULD have a aluminum fire wall built, and wont be allowed to race at a track with a modded fuel setup anyway.

I can 100% agree with Lance though, I am more worried about a dumptube lighting something in front on fire.. lol.. kicked rod oil everywhere.. FIRE FIRE FIRE.. lol

I agree the engine bay is a way more likely to start a fire. I've experienced this with a dump tube burning through a power steering line.

I've also seen a friends car catch fire from a surge tank being mounted that far back in a wreck. I personally feel the further back the fuel goes the more dangerous it gets, it's much more likely to get hit back there then in the stock tank location.
