Default PocketPC Utec Gauges and Datalogging

Wouldn't it be great to save some money on gauges, have dataloging/map editing capability all in one convenient (read SMALL) device?

I've looked into deltadash and the problem I see is that it won't work well with Utec modified ecu signals... not to mention it's simulated analogue gauges only work on a laptop which is hardly practical for everyday use. Oh... and you can't log and display gauges at the same time.

I'm currently using a vt100 emulator on my pocketpc to display the UTEC dashboard, but it is really not formatted for the small device, plus, analogue gauges are much easier to glance at when driving!

So here's what I would like... I'm hoping someone with programming experience sees this as a challenge:

Is there anybody out there that can do this?? Am I dreaming or what?

I would be interested, but I would need info on how to interface with the UTEC.

I use a vt100 terminal emulator... I also remember somewhere somebody was developing software for the UTEC and TXS gave them all the specs for integration purposes. Maybe an e-mail to those guys would be in order!

Here's the deal. Paypal me a few hundred bucks, I'll go buy a PocketPC device, create the software and send you a copy. Sound good?

Matt,

I use vxhpc and it works like a charm. You will also need a null modem crossover cable, I found mine here:

http://pc-mobile.net/compaq.htm

vxhpc can be found here

http://www.cam.com/vxhpc.html

It is a 30 day trial, but can be extended by resetting the date in the registry

I also use a program for changing the display to landscape which works better for a vt100 emulator:

http://www.dotpocket.com/

Macabre,

You don't even need a pocketpc to develop software for one

I know I would pay $50 bucks if it really worked well. I know where to find the code for the autologger program if that would help. It was made in Delphi?...

So, is the idea to just create a windows app that fits in a certain screen size? I've worked on several PalmOS apps, which are of course completely different, but never WinCE/PocketPC

If you mean developing a new app for the PocketPC, then yes... with the following features:

auto logging capabilities
User definable gauges
WBo2 log integration (and/or tuna compatibility)

ABE:

Why have to lug around another piece? I've got a pocketpc phone that is already way more capable than a gameboy and use it everyday for music/phone/calendar/gps/....tuning, gauges!

As I said just a suggestion but I think in the future the DTEC will prove to be more powerful, JMHO.

Personally I think it's very difficult to actually "tune" on anything smaller than a notebook but that's just me.

Well, there's no reson I couldn't put a pretty gauge-look front end on my LM-1 <-> UTEC app (do a search), I just don't have a pocketpc device to test on. It's a neat idea though. I'll think about it and see if I can't scrounge up a device for cheap.

Out of curiosity, what features do you think the DTEC will have that will make it "more powerful" than what could potentially be created to run on a PocketPC device?
