did ne1 notice how like every time i post something, at lest once i find a way to make an a** out of myself?

that day when i went to work i tried to rev up to 7k in steps.
4000 fine(duh)
5500 fine(duh)
6000 fine (duh)
6500... well it didnt work. lets just say im a moron and didnt know, even after ive had the car for like 9 months that its got a rev limiter. wow im such a moron.

now... can laying it on the revlimiter cause damage? common sense says no because thats why its there. to not cause damage.

i love the way it sounds laying it on it(cuz of the intake, after 5800 the engine sounds oh so sweet) and i just dont wanna break something(obviously)

also... its sounds really cool to hold it in first gear and time it right so it bounces off the limiter once and the car shoots into second gear....

The auto trannys have a speed limiter, the Manual trannies do not. Regardless, they all have a rev limiter. Unless you get an aftermarket EM setup or have your ECU reflashed, there is no way other than downshifting to get past the stock rev limiter.

one more thing. at about 5k this ringing noise picks up under the hood. some technician at a subi dealership (not where i bought it, nor had work done, nor was i calling for anything too intelligent) said it was the metal heat shield crap on my headers. im taking them off. im just wondering if itll harm nething if i do(i dont see why it would but i want a 2nd opinion)

yeah i know. this isnt a very important post but i couldnt find a more sutable place for it. and yes, i know i post alot of these sorta pointless posts but im still wonderin

Not if you havent put in stiffer valve springs, the original ones were made just for maybe 7k rpm, but still I would change them before messing whit the limiter

And the ratling could be the lifters due to lack of oil pressure, make sure you have good oil and have it to the right level. These engines when pushed hard burn a lot of oil in my case. Even better put a oil pressure gauge on it

Runs fine... but then again it's a EA, not EJ series motor.

YMMV
Well the best way to learn is from experience, even if it is blowing up your engine
