Question Question re: AUX/USB port for my Kenwood HU in 2010 STI

I have a STI Sport-Tech withthe Kenwood Nav system in it.
Actually this is the second STI with this unit i've owned with 1 key difference.

the 2009 STI had AUX cable plug in in the centre console, and you could plug in external sources, audio and video. and have it play on the head unit, you just needed to select it.

the 2010, has AUX plugins, and a USB plug in in the same location:

Great, i thouhgt when i first got the car, now i have BOTH connections.

but, I don't. The Head unit screen now has an option for selecting the USB connection (MEDIA) , but no option to select the AUX connection like my 2009 did.

I have gone through the car's manual and found nothing that refers to why this may be.

Anyone have any ideas? is there a menu or setting i can do to enable it? or am i pulling the unit out of the dash?

Have you plugged anything in? Like, does it have some kind of auto detect feature that pops up the option?

If it works like t hat i didn't see it in the manual anywhere.

I can't be the only subie owner that has this issue?

So stupid question. Have you plugged in an AUX AV source and just selected media? Does that work? I'm wondering if both sources are under MEDIA, and it prioritizes USB, but if there's no USB it goes to the analog connection.

Nope, " Media" loads a whole Media Player interface, which not only does not work or access the UAX connected device, but is in fact horrible for use even if plugging in a USB drive or device.

my best guess right now, is something is not connected in the back of the head unit, or there's a broken connection, bad solder, something

anyone here: if you have a 2008-12 STI sport tech ( limited in usa i think? the trim with sunroof and NAV) with nav, please, go look in your car, see if the centre console is an RCA jack, a USB< or both, and in teh "sources" screen on your Kenwood head unit, please tell me if you see MEDIA player, AUX, or both?

Default Question re: AUX/USB port for my Kenwood HU in 2010 STI

I have a 2008 STi, so that changes things. I have the AV connectors but no USB. Which sucks cause I replaced the HU from the OEM Kenwood Nav and just ran it the the glove box. Now I gotta hunt down that panel connector!

I decided ot stop putting it off and pulled the head unit out of the dash and checked connections. everything was plugged in as you would expect.

SO pulling the centre console up so i could get underneath and check the connectors there was a hug pain in the ass, that i was hoping to avoid. BUt it turns out i should have just started there

in hand is one of 2 plugs on the backside of that rca/usb connector, that is obviously not actually plugged in to anything.

Plugging it in , suddenly you get this :

so all works as it should, I suspected a unconnected connector all this time, but i guess i wanted a more complicated answer
