Just spent 1.5 hours reading this entire thread and love all the mods! Picked up an 05 WRX a few weeks ago that i've been working on, will be a long term project like this one. Will more than likely be on jack stands for a good year as I work on her. Currently sits with everything off the motor as I get all the mounts powder coated wrinkle black as well as the intake manifold. What can of wrinkle are you using? as I would like to do some small parts that I don't plan on getting powder coated.

Thanks!!

I use VHT wrinkle plus. Follow the instructions on the back exactly and you cant mess it up.
You can also use heat to speed it up the process, ill place one of my shop lamps that puts off a lot of heat above the part to get the wrinkle going in cold weather.

Ok so onto something that Ive been wanting to do but hasn't been high on my list ...

The previous owner must have ran larger wheels that rubbed a bunch of the fender line away and they also hacked off a bunch more than was necessary to clear the inter cooler hoses.
So I ordered new ones ... they are "economy-line" ones through rock-auto ... Ive used them before. They arent perfect, the plastic is thinner and they arent 100% in "spec" for fitment. but I didnt want to drop a ton of cash on OEM ones since im going to be dropping it on bags farther down the road and probably will just chew them up again anyway.

On to the work:
With the old ones removed I remembered that when I put the header on it put the O2 sensor too close to the metal tab seen here and needed to be bent out of the way.
So I cut it off with an angle grinder and covered the bare metal with some rust preventative paint.

Old passenger compared to new:

Installed and clearanced for the IC hose:

You can see there that the bottom doesn't meet the bumper quite nice, but oh well

Old driver compared to new:

Installed and clearanced. Unfortunately I had to remove more than I wanted to clear the IC hose

and you can see this one fits even worse to the bottom of the bumper.

And also picked up some pads for the 4/2 swap.
Went with the StopTech PQ Pro for these reasons:
1.) The main reason is they claim no bed in is needed and since Im going to taking this out little by little when its back out on the road I wont be in a position to follow a proper bed in procedure.
2.) Low dust pads
3.) Very affordable

Ok so I went and returned some scrap metal last weekend which paid for a new set of rotors. Went with EBC USR slotted:

Then got the front rotors, calipers, and pads installed:

Then I ran into a snag. I could not find a definitive answer on if the rear rotors would fit the dust shields. Some stuff said yes, some said no.
Turns out ... the answer is no:

So I drilled out the spot welds, was super easy:

and touched it up with some more paint:

Then got everything all mounted up:

Last step is new lines and bleed the brakes with some fresh fluid and I can check this one off the list.

Another little project finished.
Im still going to run the RS5s for now until I can get a decent set of wheels.
But one thing they have never had is center caps ... the caps that they come with look awful and I tossed them a long time ago.
So I made a set:

They came gloss black, so I color matched them:

Then got some center decals:

and installed:

Ok so I was able to finish up the 4/2 Pot swap.
Stoptech SS lines front and rear, and system bled with Motul 600

... and got exited and threw on the newly finihsed wheels and took er off the jack stands

and as far as getting ready for the timing belt/water pump stuff,
I had to order some OE odds and ends so I ordered new lower radiator seats since the originals are a little rusty
as well as some new rubber for both the upper and lower seats

Looks like this ought to work. Driver side spring seems a little close to the tone ring, but it doesn't touch so that's all I can ask for.

And finally finished up a project that I procrastinated so badly its take literally years to finish up .... neon yellow wheels are now gold:

I love the color of the wheels. Nicely done!

Some progress on the WRX

Turns out the rear calipers were binding on the inner part of the drum backing plate. Has to make some clearance with the grinder so they could spin freely.

Also got the exhaust put back up with some urethane hangers

Also started a YouTube channel a while back. So far it's been mostly my Forester but all of this work is in this video:

More last minute progress:

Got the Fuel filter changed out.
Oil Changed
Rear Diff Fluid Changed
Lug nuts swapped out with new ones
New shift knob setup installed
Sorted the problems with the power steering

Then I got the front end reassembled and too it for a test drive!
Feels great to be back in the car even if it was just for a little bit.

Nothing ground breaking here but added some LED lighting and fixed my HID issues:

And this video took me a while to get out but was also earlier this summer.
If youve followed the thread since the beginning, you remember that forever ago I dropped the fuel tank to find a leak but found nothing

Well it happened again and this time I found it

Your videos are really good... Your method for removing and reinstalling the fuel tank was interesting.

Lots of good details in both the videos and the thread in general.

Yeah thanks for posting that video man. Mine doesn't leak gas but I can smell some vapor so I'll probably be doing this project in the future.

jet pump wasn't working because there was no fuel running in the return line to make it work , it was going into the red gas can

Ok so I keep forgetting to take pictures when I get in the groove of filming.
Ill try to get better at remembering in the future.

Anyway, last season the huge wheel gap in the front really got to bugging me so I pulled the trigger and ordered new suspension. Ive tried coil overs in the past and this time decided to splurge and try an air setup. it just something Ive always wanted to at least try out.

I ordered the AirLift Performance front and rear strut kits through Subimods during their black friday sale as well as the full 3P management kit and tank throug Bag Riders.

Here is Part, getting everything unboxed, wrapping my head around the project, and starting on the trunk setup
