Default thinking of buying a SVX

Hey everyone, I have been sent here for info on SVX's. I am currently looking at a 92, forest green, v6, auto.
I am not new to subaru's, however, I am quite new to svx's. I was wondering if there is a thread somewhere that someone has done an sti 6 speed swap with a wrx motor to power it. I know wiring for the ej207 will be a pain seeing as they are totally different... but my question is this, I know that any ej-ez series are swapable, but does anyone know about the trans. I am trying to find out if the driveshaft will bolt in, crossmembers, shifter location, all those little small things. Any info would be great. Thanks. Also, is that an h6 under the hood?

Brandon.

I would say swap in the 6 speed, I know 5 speed swaps have been done.

Yes its an H6 under the hood (not a V unless you consider 180 degrees a V still)

its 230HP stock. You COULD turbo or supercharge that, convert it to stick and have quite a bit of fun with it.

It may be considered a crime to neuter it and take away 2 of its cylinders even if there is a turbo under the hood too.

the car will be a dog with a 2.5 r 2.0. the car weighs better than 3400 lbs. keep the "v" 6 3.3 liter, swap in sti suspension parts and go with the manual transmission.

the svx only had an auto available, because at the time, subaru did not have a strong enough transmission ot make it manual from the factory.

the 3.3 is based on the same dimensions as the 2.5 dohc, before the 2.5 even came out.

so whatever modification options there are for a 2.5, just apply that to what essentially is 1 and a half 2.5 engines under the hood

Sti suspension parts will not fit on a svx. The front mounts have a different bolt pattern and where the strut mounts to the knuckle is different too. Also sti brakes will not mount up its been tried.
The only STI parts that fix on a svx is the air filter, group n motor mounts, group n dog bone, and group n trany mount if you do a 5 or 6 speed swap.

Did you register over at http://www.subaru-svx.net/forum/index.php ?

Most of, if not all, of your questions can be answered there.
I think you will need the 5spd x-member and I think it lines up.
The other issue sounds like a clogged cat, or the timing is wrong.
