Happy for you; check back in after you get it and let us know how you like it. If I didn't have kids I'd probably be okay with cloth, but then again, if I didn't have kids I wouldn't want/need four doors.

Same for me, but it’s for the 50th. Congrats. If I cannot get a HM CE by end of summer, loaded white core, same as you, is my #2 choice. I figured this is my last pure ICE, last 6MT, and last performance car I’m going to own so F it. I just love the HM color/setup but I’ll admit it’s wasteful as I’m paying 5k extra for “cosmetic” ****. That makes my financial side cringe like a mafk but it’s my last deal and I will literally own the car until I’m dead barring financial ruination so I’m going for it, one single time, at least for the first MY. The loaded core is the way to go though in my opinion. The three packages are all priced extremely nice for the consumer and the loaded core is the most cost efficient way to get everything. Had they offered HM on the Core, oh yeah done deal. PP is a no brainer. CW package is cheap for heated seats and one modcon that I learned with my MY2013 DD, the heated wheel, which is invaluable. Many times I just turn on the seats and wheel and don’t even fire up the hvac at all in the winter. Then the tech pack gets you wireless charging and a JBL system, and just like the other packages, is relatively cheap.

I wouldn’t be hurrying though. Everyone is in a hurry and there will be no parts available to mod. I tell everyone, as long as you have secured one, who cares if it takes time? The longer it takes the more paper you can stack to put down on it. Come March I’ll have 50% down payment ready. If it takes until this time next year for me I might just be financing 10-15k. Cheap car payment means easy to buy Ohlins, sways, new turbo, etc. Wait until you mod this mafk. Gonna be a beast!

Your **** is secure. It’s a celebration bitches!

They take factory orders for this car? Don't Toyota dealers just take whatever Toyota gives them?

I'm pretty sure he's an engineer for Toyota in the US.

I'm not going to lie, I do find it slightly aggravating that it's a walk in the park for a Toyota employee to order one, meanwhile the rest of us are subjected to the dealers that will only sell to the highest bidder.

Not to my knowledge. Every dealer I've dealt with doesn't seem to know anything about when or what they're receiving. They're creating databases with customer names and then when the car shows up in the system, highest bidder gets it.

If he is a Yota employee I get it. Also possible (no idea, just spitballing) is he is from, as Dr. Disrespect calls it, Kah-Na-Dah, and not only does Canada forbid ADM by law, they are able to order there via allocation. You work with your dealer, give spec, such as trim, color, and options, and you wait.

Well, don’t feel so aggravated. I just got an email this morning that mine is being cancelled and I will have to try again next month. I expect that the order takers are told to prioritize certain level employees over others. They are only taking a very small number of employee orders per month for the GRC.

That's awesome that employees can order a car. Do you get an employee discount?

Do you get the Japanese style bonus system as well? When I worked for a Japanese semiconductor company, we got 20-30% bonuses every year, which went toward a few cars.

If I ever make it through the ordering system. The number earmarked for employees is so low and apparently demand is so high that I might just have to put it off a bit. Maybe get the wifey a new Prius Prime for the time being and finally offload her MINI.

It’s a bit of a convoluted process. I go to a website, place the order, someone manually puts it into the queue at the vehicle plants — where it goes to the back of the line because the next 1-3 months of build plan are already set (Japan built is 1 month, US built is 3 months). Add in shipping time and the earliest I’d have had the car is March. But it is a nice perk to get exactly what I want. I have a 4Runner Pro incoming next month. We do get a discount. Ballpark 10% off.

Bonus system is pretty nice but it is based on your level in the company. It has always been in the ballpark of 10-15% for me. I’ve never really bought anything in particular with mine. I’m boring. Just responsible things like paying my house off.

Word is they are cutting production for 2023. We do not know an exact number. Estimate is 4000 units. Will heavily affect CE's. ME's are actually getting a 50 bump. More info later.

JMO, the “cut” to production would be due to the late rollout. I don’t think they started production as early as originally planned and that chopped off a month’s worth of volume for ‘23. I think we’ll see roughly expected monthly volume hitting dealerships starting in January and roll right into the ‘24 models late next summer as planned.

No, someone spoke to Toyota. The Motomachi factory got flooded this year which halted production for a while. And the chips are still an issue.

Yea, halted for a while which would explain the 2 month delay for them hitting dealers. Once production restarted, it would continue moving at normal pace, though. A flood isn’t something that will continue to plague production.

We’re having occasional hits to our production, but it is on the order of 10%. I expect GR Corolla is the same.

IMO, this is FUD from youtubers because that gets the hits. My 16 years of working for a Japanese company tells me that you have to translate what is said 2x. Once is Japanese to English. The second time is what they really mean by what they say. There’s a culture of underpromise. When I would ask if they could modify my machine to do a certain thing in spec meetings, I never got a “yes”. It was always “maybe OK.”

Lets repeat this to help people understand. Several misunderstood quotes over the years on here.
