Default BRZ convertible?

http://www.caranddriver.com/news/201...-rendered-news

Read this today and thought it actually doesn't look that bad. You guy think the BRZ could ever be one? How do you think it would look? Would you buy one?

Personally, I think I would if I had the chance(especially if it came in hardtop form).

I have said that I would buy a BRZ once it was a convertable and turbo.

Seems with this news, and the new FA-20 turbo engine for the Legacy, it's getting closer.

I think I'd still opt for the hardtop. Cheaper, stiffer, and likely lighter. Heh, same goes for if/when they offer a turbo model.

I 2nd the I would buy a convertible turbo model. I've always wanted to get a convertible, and why not jump back into the Subaru world if they offered one. We shall wait and see what they do.

Convertible BRZ won't happen. Get over it.

If there was going to be a roofless version i'd prefer a targa top over a soft drop top.

Quoted for posterity. Never say never, BB. Especially with Subaru's track record in history.

"They'll never bring over the WRX."
(2001 they did)

"They'll never bring over an STi WRX."
"They'll never put a 2.5L in an STi WRX, because it's always been 2.0L"
(2003 they did both).

"They'll never put in a 2.5L turbo into the WRX."
(2004 they did)

Considering its already been said that the BRZ/GT86/FR-S platform was designed for a convertable version, this isn't that surprising, but don't expect to see it for a year or two. The rendering looks pretty good, though.

I think the talk was a 2014 or 2015 model for the Toyota side. It sounded like Toyota was looking to make a lot more models out of this than Subaru was. However it also sounded like Toyota at least wasn't going to do a Turbo model and Subaru doesn't currently sound like they are headed down that path either.

Might be cool to see this with a higher reving motor and a slight diet though.

I also think a turbo model is unlikely but Subaru said they were looking into it. I wouldn't mind a 3.0 flat 6 based off the FA20 as a higher HP alternative, though.

Oh, and then the whole marketing that Subaru = AWD. "Subaru US will never import a non-AWD car."

Forgot to put that up there too.

They'd say they're going to put a flux capacitor in it if it would make headlines and keep the hype afloat for their new product launch.

You know what? I don't care what they say about you. You're an okay guy.

I'm digging the targa. I don't foresee Subaru getting too crazy with the BRZ variants. They'll leave that too Toyota and just reap the benefits of being able to sell this car at all.
