Slowly getting the paint corrected, then will do the winter rims as they are scuffed AF....maybe will change them up to a bronze/gold color, then get them stored for the summer season.
Posted a youtube video of the cold startup, drive, accleration & exhaust for this 400hp car. Not without issues, this will be a car my 19 year old son will look back on with love in years to come....
P0304 Cylinder 4 misfire - short 82 second vid on replacing coil pack and removing Intercooler/Throttle body to fix the issue. No more hesitation/jerkiness when accelerating and trying to make boost. Details in video.
28 second clip - our son backed over a large snowbank as we had 1-2 feet of snow fall overnight making most road unpassable. As he crested the snowbank he noted his exhaust got quite loud on the way to University. He called me to come look at the car and exhaust fumes were billowing from underneath the middle of the car...i could tell something separated. We got it home and found both flange bolts sheared off...so we repaired it and all is right with the world now. Having fun teaching my son how to wrench but I wish it wasn't with this frequency!
HIs car was acting wonky and shut off while driving then had some acceleration issues. Leaning towards an electrical issue we tested the battery voltage first with the car off....12.3v so that was enough to tell me that the battery was pooched. A quick trip to the parts store and another lesson in mechanics for my son. Once installed and no explosions! We got the car fired up and all seems good again.
My son's 2nd car....and his 1st time doing an oil change in his 2006 STi....we opted for 5w40 given increased boost and heat. Good car for him to learn on and didn't take a ton of time:
Our time with this 2006 STi was cut way too short. My son was involved in a single vehicle rollover where he caught approx 30 feet of air, hit a lamp post, rolled a couple times and was stopped by a construction fence and snow pile. Car is a total loss with 3 wheels and axles sheared off. Most glass is gone...body panels damaged etc Here is a clip of the carnage...RIP Subie.
