Question STI 4 pot pad choices

What are the different pads made for the STI 4 pots? Say like Hawk, so they make a HP+ for them?

Porterfield makes a race and street/race pad that fits. I believe it is the same fitment for 300Z's.

Hey Luke, you still around?

http://www.tirerack.com/brakes/resul...d=all&x=99&y=9

the HP Plus pad that say (Note: Front brake pads for models with non U.S. Subaru four-pot calipers.) I am guessing these are the 4 pot pads. I have use the Hawk pads before and like them.

I'm using the SBS ProTrack pads that Luke had recommended to me before a track day at Gingerman raceway and they work very well. They held up very well to the track and seem fairly good on the street, although they are a little noisy. I'm not sure how they are with rotors, but Luke said they weren't bad. Basically any pad that is made for the 91 300ZX Turbo will fit the 4-pot calipers.

The correct part number for the Hawk (best overall pad on the market that we have used to date for street, auto cross and track) is HB178F564

The set I had dusted about average as compared to metal masters and mintex 1155 pads I have. They weren't too bad I thought.

As for purchasing.....why not go directly to the source http://www.performancefriction.com/

Their website is severely lacking....but it has an email and phone number.

You may need to order them for the nissian 4-pots.....because they may not have a listing for the subaru's because they did not come stock.

SS may know a better place.

Axxis makes pads as well for the 4 pots... Talk to Paul Eklaund, he can hook you up with metal master or ultimate or other versions.

Average dust. The lowest dust pads available for the 4pots I am aware of are the Corazon Dustless pads. Dont know if they are available here or not.

Where to buy PFC:

http://www.nationalfleetparts.com/Pe...ads.0460.1.htm

Thats the part number for the 4pots. $62.35.

ss

Dont get me wrong, Hawk pads are good as well. I am just throwing out options. I have had good experience with PFC pads on other cars.

For the street, I use the OEM 300z TT pad. For the track I use Endless pads.

I love them

Stock nissan pads can be had pretty cheap from here:

http://www.courtesyparts.com/z32_brakes.html

~$52 + shipping.

They will probably be my next pads for street.

Cool, thx guys for the help.

Now, for my next question. What about the dust boots. Where can I get the dust boots for the pistons? I got a used pair of 4 pots and some of the boots are damaged so I want to replace them all. Will the boot for the stock 2 pistons work or are them the same as the 300ZX Z32 calipers?

Do you guys know anything about the AP Lockheed pads? They came on mine (slightly used), but I've never read anything about them.

I believe one of the seal kits for the Nissan will work, but don't know which one.

Maybe you could ask them if they know the difference between the two kits. you may be able to gain some insight.

I have used the 300ZX TT pads and hardware with good results.
They dust, but it isn't the 'krazy glue' kind of dust.
The p/n's that fit the front calipers that I have(the black painted 4-pot ones) are:

HARDWARE KIT - FR(contains shims, clips, and pad grease)
41080 - 40P27

PAD KIT - DISC(pads and "wisker" springs)
41060 - 74F90

These are from the most recent 300ZX TT not the early model, and if you do not have the pad retaining pins(sorry no p/n) you will need them as well if you don't have them. I do not use the anti-rattle clips.

I don't have the invoice, but I seem to remember around $55 us for both of the above.

Peaty, you may use the info in my post wherever you wish.
Hope it can help someone save some time/energy with trial and error.
I was told that the 'Subaru' 4-pot front calipers are identical in every way(except for the "Subaru" cast into them) to the most recent USDM 300ZX TT front calipers and all re-build components are interchangeable. I CANNOT substantiate this with personal experience, as I haven't had to re-build them, yet.
I CAN verify the parts in my above post fit the 4-pot "Subaru' calipers and function properly on my car.
