And then people talk about wrx/STi engines being unable to hold power above 350whp and requiring a rebuild to be reliable. Then people mention you can do so with EVOs. Well with the EVO you have to build the transmission. |

Well put. I agree with you 100%
There is no "perfect platform" when it comes to the aftermarket modification. Every car is going to have unique weak areas that people will try to overcome. . Last edited by JMK508; 01-01-2013 at 04:23 PM. |

i agree with you on the idiots part.
Kiddiots I disagree that the transmission will hold anything above 400whp...but honestly its the torque that kills it. And no offense but you seem like the type of guy that doesn't do turbo upgrades. I could be wrong but i figure your upgrades are exhaust, downpipe, intake and a good tune. Nothing wrong with that.....but its a little less stressful on the setup than say a 35r. You will come back to me with a "Doooooooooooood i am elite on the internet. I cant wait. |

I have an 03wrx with 174k miles. I've burnt the clutch once maybe twice and it's my first manual car. I baby it, its never seen over 5k rpms while I'm driving... but yet my friend who is 17 jumps in and does a pull to like 7k. Needless to say i immediately got pissed and was back in the drivers seat.. He will never drive my car again.. |

I have a huge resentment against Subaru at this point... After 2 STis and replacing two separate short blocks for two different reasons. So to the guy that started this thread... They do blow up and are not reliable. STis that is not subaru in general just their terrible performance cars ( oil pick up line failure 2006 STi and ringland failure 2008 STi) so i don't tell me they are great cars! And I also know several people into subarus that have had major problems too.

^^^ Heres my thought. I have been on this site for a handful of years and has not witnessed
one constructive post from him. All he ever says is Doooooooood your a idiot....or Dooooood your a moron. Doooooood i know everything and you are stupid. The thread had some very constructive posts and some very good points from both sides.........what do you know......Uncle Scotty appears and starts calling people idiots. With 64k posts he has been around a while. Why not use that knowledge to help others....not cut them down. |

Only time I see him freak out is towards topics that have been beat to death, like the one we were just discussing. Which unfortunately makes up for about 80% of threads.

Actually when i can i do read most posts including his.....and on some instances he does give good advice. Most of the time he cuts members down and calls them idiots.
Most seasoned members know scotty and thinks it is hilarious.....but for new people he can come off with a negative intent. I could really care less.....if it makes him feel better to cut people down on the internet more power to him. |

Ok.
So let me try to get this right. Your main goal in this forum is to make people look bad and have fellow members laugh at them. I really do feel sorry for you. I don't know your background and can only imagine what circumstances you must have gone through in your life to have a mantra like this. I aim to treat people with respect and try to share experiences that i have encountered to hopefully help them make more informed decisions. I am sorry we don't share the same outlook. I don't know you personally but i respect the fact that you have been on this site since 2001, and seem to know alot of information in general about all aspects of the mechanics of a automobile. If you have useful information or experiences how you have managed to have no issues or problems with your personal vehicles please share it....but to just blurt out " you're a idiot" doesn't help anyone in this forum. |

I agree that a check and balance system is healthy.
Just sometimes the manner that it is executed is sometimes a little harsh. I actually was just watching a youtube video where some guy in a new STI was showing off to his friends doing doughnuts in a parking lot.....and bam!!! He spins a bearing. This individual then would come into a forum crying that his brand new STI is completely unreliable. I understand where people like uncle get fed up with the newbs. I really do. So i will retire on this note.....i cant disagree that their are tons of idiots, morons that come on the site and complain about their cars.....but every once in a while you have people (like myself) that don't have all the answers and don't know everything but need help sometimes to figure out what went wrong with their setup or what to do different. Happy new year to all and happy modding |

If there's anything I dislike as much or more than whining, it would have to be people who whine about other people whining and so on. Whining whiners.
