![]() Here's a build thread of my 2004 STi. Bought the car with 100k on the clock in June of 2016. Three years later its a totally different car...
The story begins: Day the car was purchased. 100K miles, Rota wheels (one was cracked...), FMIC, and a crappy white paint job. Home safe! If you can see, that's a silver STi badge the previous owner threw on the hood in a random place... That was the first thing to be removed. [IMG] ![]() [/IMG] Much needed polishing of headlights... Looked pretty good! [IMG] ![]() [/IMG] [IMG] ![]() [/IMG] First real mod was to replace the blown suspension. In went Tein street basis coilovers. 3 years later still rides nice. Not super low.. [IMG] ![]() [/IMG] Next up were the hotboi mods lol... Some TE-37 reps with a way too low offset... And of course a subieflow banner Specs for the wheels and tires: ESR SR-07 18x9.5 +22 BFG G-Force Comp 2 A/S 225/45/18 [IMG] ![]() [/IMG] Canyon runs here and there... And wing stiffy's [IMG] ![]() [/IMG] [IMG] ![]() [/IMG] Mods start coming in! This was a basic Magnaflow catback. Sounded really good for just a catback because of the absence of a resonator like most jdm exhausts. Since have sold this. [IMG] ![]() [/IMG] Will continue to update! Long way to go... |

![]() Halloween fun and some street shark action. To make the teeth I got some poly board and drew on some teeth. Cut it them out with a hacksaw and then splattered some red paint on. Then I 3m taped them to the inside of the bumper. Definitely got a lot of looks!
https://i.imgur.com/nyeguIu.jpg https://i.imgur.com/MCJjtOn.jpg The salty harbor air here began to rust the trunk underneath the wing. Repair process included taking off the wing (which looked kinda cool), sanding down the trunk, and spraying a new coat of primer. At this time it was surface rust, so nothing too major. Good thing I caught it though. https://i.imgur.com/u5aD9mL.jpg |

![]() Headlights opened up and redone. Threw them in the oven and pried apart. Deleter amber reflectors and painted the bezel black. At the time this looked really good. However now, the lenses have become hazy and splotchy even with polishing/sanding. Want to refinish them soon...

![]() At this time I was bored with the plain white car and anted some flare. Old school-y I drew on some ideas for vinyl. Looked cool, but never happened.
https://i.imgur.com/YfBarUz.jpg Here's a pic of the engine. APS FMIC piping connected to a junk intercooler the previous owner had on. Worx tuning 50/50 bov, I heard these are somewhat rare and pretty nicely engineered. I sold it for a jdm bpv. In this pic you can see how close the positive battery terminal is to the charge pipe. Though it never came into contact, it was still sketchy. Not sure why I never realized that... https://i.imgur.com/4StnA0m.jpg After lots of well needed maintenance, here it was at my first autocross. This was at the Camarillo airport (I think now these now longer happen). https://i.imgur.com/4zJA8je.jpg Link to some footage of the runs: |

![]() Though I get lots of comments on my headlights being amazing, I disagreed. Since painting them about 2 years ago they've become hazy and literally green on the inside. Time for some more DIY.
Before: https://i.imgur.com/tLF3EzD.jpg Disassembly (oven at 250, baked for 10 mins): https://i.imgur.com/H3V5jMN.jpg https://i.imgur.com/4RdMFW2.jpg I wanted to continue my yellow theme in the headlights as well. I used Duplicolor Metal Anodizer (Amazon) to spray the high beam reflectors yellow. https://i.imgur.com/0oqbcZQ.jpg https://i.imgur.com/pFDKO9E.jpg https://i.imgur.com/9QsD8an.jpg https://i.imgur.com/w3E7ORc.jpg Now to refinish the lenses. 600 grit: https://i.imgur.com/S1DbQBQ.jpg 2000 grit: https://i.imgur.com/vLAjx6W.jpg 3000 grit plus polishing with Mothers headlight polish: https://i.imgur.com/28nCrbE.jpg |

![]() Next mod that was done was to replace the APS piping and no-name intercooler. Some may ask why get rid of APS piping, but to tell the truth I despised that pipe. Ever since I bought the car, I've had problems with couplers blowing off. Nothing would fix it. The intercooler was junk as well and full of blowby oil.
I took a risk and went with a Rev9 Motorsport front mount kit to replace the old one. Its an eBay brand, however I couldn't find anything bad about the intercooler, so I decided to risk it. https://i.imgur.com/OhCZRHL.jpg Heres a current picture of the engine bay. The fitment of the piping is actually better than the APS piping. I've had zero couplers blow off in a year and temps have been perfect. To anyone else considering the Rev9 FMIC kit I suggest it! https://i.imgur.com/HxA79On.jpg |

![]() February of 2018 some of my friends and I tried to diy a rear diffuser. Don't have any process pictures but the basic process was to get some ABS plastic sheets, create a mockup out of cardboard, use the cardboard pieces as templates, cut out ABS pieces, put together with 90 degree brackets, and attach to car with self tappers.
Looked pretty cool and very, very aggressive. https://i.imgur.com/B2vPGoL.jpg https://i.imgur.com/7ZHFFMd.jpg |

![]() Next up is my favorite. Big fog lights have always been my dream mod. Finally got my hands on some jdm fogs from the motherland. Not the blue lenses, but I still like the clear. Probably my favorite mod to date!

![]() Last weekend was a fun one. I believe I'm the first non-crosstrek or outback to run these. These are the Motegi Racing MR-141 finished in rally gold. 17x7.5 +40.
https://i.imgur.com/6Re0eTr.jpg Test fit went great! Cleared the Brembos and the coilovers with no problems. https://i.imgur.com/tYXEwup.jpg https://i.imgur.com/oSRt9QV.jpg Wrapped in some amazing Michelin Pilot Sport A/S 225/45/17 https://i.imgur.com/209Hs0Z.jpg Mounted! Fitment isn't quite where I want it so a small spacer might be needed. https://i.imgur.com/gDnA9We.jpg https://i.imgur.com/7aPgjvA.jpg |

![]() ![]() Just finished up the install of the Turn in Concepts crossmember bushings that I saw on Blingstrom’s page. These actually make a very noticeable difference in stiffening up the chassis and driveline, and they’re only $35! Huge props to TiC. Above is stock on the left, new on the right. |

![]() Couple of pictures from Speed Ventures Buttonwillow trackday:
![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Unfortunately the temperature was 110°F, so I was battling overheating issues all day. Almost every car couldn’t stay cool, even a brand new stock WRX. Next time I’m going to Laguna Seca in 70°... |
