Does Infiniti even have a game plan besides cutting models?

I’m flabbergasted that the Sentra sells in large quantities. I had one as a rental last year and it was the most mediocre car I have driven in decades. Felt like driving the stuff Hyundai built in their early years were you could see evidence of low quality, cost cutting everywhere, and an overall dated feel.

They sell them to rental fleets so people can have the same experience as you did.

Bunches of Nissans at Disney's Car Care Center. They gave me a Rogue Sport with 2 miles on it(thought I'd be getting a Rogue. A bit disappointed). There were rows of newly delivered Nissans around the back. The car was fine. Visibility was better than expected. Being as hot as it was, I DID like the A/C! It was ice cold. CVT was a bit louder; but, not enough that I cared. I'm a bit surprised at that much drop with Infiniti. Guess I haven't been paying as much attention to them. I remember them as being pretty good cars.

THere is no compelling reason to own an Infiniti. Or Acura for that matter.

If you want an AWD Honda, Nissan, Toyota, sedan/coupe that's that's got a bit more power, you have to pony up to the premium brands.

The only (which is new) exception is the AWD Altima. I'm really interested to see if that makes any kind of dent or increase in sales over FWD in the snow belt. It's still too new to say it has an effect on Inifiniti (and probably doesn't because there's no Cache in owning an Altima)

There 100% is a compelling reason - buying one that's 1-2 years old for half off. You get a pretty nice, slightly premium car for the price of a moderately optioned compact sedan once the first owner takes a bath on it. They are 100% not worth ANYWHERE near what they ask for them new, but on the used market you really can't go wrong since you get a ton of car for the money.

You’re talking used market. There is no reason to buy a new one unless they are dumping these with incredible markdowns and 0% financing.

you originally said "own", not "buy new".

new WRX or CPO Infiniti 400hp AWD coupe? that was an easy choice.

supposedly Infiniti's are great to lease, but i've never leased a car, so i don't understand any of that jibber-jabber.

I had not heard about the awd altima. I went looking, and apparently you can't even get the cool turbo engine with awd? What kinda garbage?

Because Infiniti exists for that. And why Subaru is making year after year records in sales. They have "accessible" AWD sedans that don't carry the premium pricetag (if you don't want to pay that much). The new Legacy XTs will test that this year as the interiors are upscale(ish).

AWD Altima sounds like it would be interesting, but it's only CVT, and the AWD system is based on a viscous coupler. So it's not a performance sedan, just an awd badge. But of coursr, the new turbo Legacy/Outbacks are only cvt also, so no interest there either.

The other thing is that the AWD is only available on the lower power engine option.

I wonder what kind of lease deals can be had on an Infiniti SUV.

I had an AWD Q50S for a couple years and didn't mind it at all. I even liked the two touch screen system once I became familiar with it. Maybe I just have low expectations but for the money (I got a used one 10 months old) the fit/finish was on par with the comparable Germans for much cheaper.

Had a Nissan Rogue as a rental in Miami a month ago and I hope it was the base model because that thing doesn't move fast enough to pass others quickly.

Infiniti have some nice looking cars right now IMHO, but yeah, no interest in any of them. I think their move to just letters and numbers just made it even more confusing.
