Looks like several variants of the model S are being ran around Nurburg. One of the variants looks rather “aggressive.”

Can't make the goal? Move the posts.

Like you said it's Musk's ego. They could easily let Porsche beat them on track and market the S based on lower cost and the metrics it's better in like straight line acceleration and range.
I see it differently. Porsche came out and did it with their brand new vehicle. Tesla, is like, ok, our newest is a couple of years old, so why not do it with what we may launch with next year.

Either way, rather than ****ting on elon here, I rather applaud them for being like hrmm alright, glad we've got competition, let's get to it.

I guess Tesla canít claim they are slower with the current Model S as I doubt they will ever run a current P100D around Nurberg and will wait until they release the newest 3 motor version. Dat ego tho.

People who want Tesla to fail hate Elon's business tactics and BS and people who do not want Tesla to fail hate Elon's business tactics and BS.

Scrutinized from both ends is a nice place to be.

Yeah, I’d be willing to bet most don’t want Tesla itself to fail and go under. Elon’s just a total egotistical ****ing douche bag who is completely unethical and cares more about his image than the business. Not to mention the downright shady acquisition in which he made a fat paycheck from.

1+1 actually equals 2, but few understand the math anymore, so the majority resort to feelings instead. And if some feel better about 1+1 equaling 9, they let it be so... and what happens to the 7 bucks? Don't you worry about it my peonic serf, get back to work and eat this nice piece of cake.

Idiots on both "sides" - divide and conquer bleeds into everything. Anyone "trying hard" is the same as the person on the opposite side. However, what someone may perceive as "trying hard" could actually simply be someone with integrity, refusing to turn a blind eye when they hear something as simple and ignorant as 1+1=9. But all is relative, and simple to one is impossible to comprehend for another.

So it is easiest to realize that in the end, there are no sides, there are simply objective facts. What society does with those facts is what shapes everything. As long as facts are marginalized or ignored, society remains in decline. Only when the path of least resistance comes to an end will anyone realize the damage that was done along the way. The myopic sheep like the teslan will never realize this, even after the fact, and will only change their focus to the new issues that face them.

The sad math is what people choose to scrutinize. Like there's an accepted public list to choose from.

The only time you'll find Balantz in a cubicle is for a photoshoot.

Keep moving those goal posts lol

His ego is unreal.

Competition in the EV market is a good thing and I like that they're improving with performance testing but let the performance speak for itself.

Reading his Twitter feed is depressing.

What news? A heavily modified and stripped out model S beat the Taycan?

I hope they did beat the time.

Let me know when they run an actual production vehicle.

Again I'm all for the competition, I just don't like the way Elon handles it all. I appreciate the model S for what it is.

told you! you were going to keep crying .

Maybe you should look at the 8 second mark of the Porsche's nurburgring video; it says "Porsche Taycan Prototype"

or the 15 second mark that shows they don't have lower interior pieces.

...Stripped out Porsche Tycan with tires that you cannot even buy at Porsche.com Taycan's configurator.

Do you think that Model S mule was built in a week? That car is been running for while with their next generation powertrain for the roadster and future updates to Model S and Model X.

Tesla has an unfair advantage here

You really canít tell the difference between a striped out spec racer model S and a factory car

The interior is so bland

With the Porsche you know if itís modified

Perhaps we have 2 Teslans You fail to address anything in my initial post, make no counterpoints, and declare victory. Winnar!

Actually worse than Tesla "beating" the Taycan via hearsay, with a car that will never be produced, on a 1-mile shorter track.

Lets look at the facts so far:

Porsche brought a car to the ring and set a record.
Tesla said they would bring a faster car to the ring.
Tesla brought a faster car to the ring.
Tesla hasn't gone for an official record time yet, because the car they brought is not a production model, and stated it wouldn't be until fall of 2020.
Tesla stated the car at the ring was a pre-production/prototype model.
Porsche also said (in their video) it was a prototype Taycan.
Neither car meets production requirements (tires, wide body, interior, likely electronic controls).

What I see are two companies pushing the boundaries/limits/whatever of road-going performance electric vehicles, and I am happy for it. I hope it fuels other manufacturers to "step into the ring" as it were.

I don't care who holds the record, only that companies are fighting for it.
