![]() I think the comparisons between the GT350 and GT500 that’ll be done later this year will be fun to discuss.
The 500 will have a significant torque advantage with a weight disadvantage. Perhaps a true track test with someone like Randy Pobst will show that bigger power numbers don’t necessarily translate into a better driver’s experience. Or, the GT500 could be significantly faster that the GT350. I think it’ll be a 1/4 mile monster, especially due to the DCT.

For sure, it'll pack more tech. From the videos I've seen, the exhaust doesn't sound at all unique. It does have that loud that supercharger whine, though. This ain't OT, but my outrageous claim is that by 2021 the GT500 will have a manual transmission option. |

![]() No flat plane crank, no manual, and good luck getting one of these (at least initially) without some major dealer markups.
Honestly, I think I would rather have the GT350 and pocket a whole big pile of cash. The performance levels on a GT350 already far surpass any daily driving scenario on a public road so really it comes down to how much you track the car and even then I suspect the GT500 will be faster and the GT350 will be more fun. Faster does not always = more fun. Just my .02 cents. |

Place your bets. It'll be a $100k car for the first year (yes, w/ dealer ADM and bastards on the used market trying to flip them). If the GT350R was going for top dollar, this will be way more than that. And as a GT350 owner, I seriously have no interest in selling mine just to get this and have more HP. |

![]() I think I like it
I even like them blazing the path for 'murcan muscle car with a dual clutch. Its a bit too childish for my delicate sensibilities, but a gt350 in a subdued color fill that market segment seems like it must be silly expensive though |

Yes! I picked up a used one (1,090 miles) back in April. It seems there's a rash of hardly driven GT350's and R's with almost no miles on the used market. ![]() I'm kind of smitten that the GT500 isn't going to have the 5.2L flat-plane mill of the GT350. The sound alone rattles my spine. And it's not about the horsepower or magazine bench-racing #'s. Driving that car is all about the experience...the fact that it isn't a torque monster, and not really a drag car is the best part. Yeah, that sounds weird, but in my youth...all I was after was chasing tenths in the 1/4 mile. Now, I just want to have enough energy on my days off to go for a nice drive and push three pedals. |

What else is tucked away in your garage. Almost looks like a split top old school white corvette in the corner... Or I'm just seeing things. Reminds me of my uncle and how he has two Viper ACRs shoved in his tiny garage (plus tiny house). He doesn't believe in buying big houses. So he can travel all over the place. |

![]() Grabber Lime 2020 Ford Mustang Shelby GT500 Filmed In Detail
There's even a great look at the engine. The 2020 Ford Mustang Shelby GT500 doesn't have a full debut until this summer, and the Blue Oval is still keeping many of the details a closely held secret. The company is willing to let people see its much-anticipated muscle car, though, and this video from StangMode is one of the closest looks at it yet. The Grabber Lime color makes this Shelby GT500 an immediate attention getter, especially with the contrasting black trim on the front splitter, mirror caps, side sills, and other details. This one rides on a set of carbon fiber wheels, too, and there are a gargantuan set of brake rotors visible behind the spokes with similarly large Brembo calipers clamping on the discs. Also, notice the lack of Ford or Mustang badging except for the Shelby snake emblems adorning the exterior. Things get really cool a Ford representative pops the hood. The process involves unlocking it from the cabin and pressing the two buttons that look like hood pins. StangMode is incredibly happy to see that there's now a strut keeping it open, rather than a prop. According to the Blue Oval rep, the hood vents are semi-functional. With the hood open, owners can remove a panel underneath the fins, so that they actually allow heat to exit the engine bay. Leaving the cover in place prevents rain from falling inside. Ford still won't disclose the output of the GT500's supercharged 5.2-liter V8, except that the figure will be "over 700 horsepower." The Blue Oval will limit the model's top speed to 180 miles per hour (290 kilometers per hour), and the muscle machine will be capable of covering the quarter mile in less than 11 seconds. Ford also hasn't yet provided an official date for releasing all of the details about the GT500 beyond the info arriving at a vague point this summer. Among the facts and figures, expect the company to say when the muscle car goes on sale. The date is likely sometime this year. |
