![]() Recently did boot replacements on an '05 STI CV axle. I bought OEM kits and the straps for the inner boot were some pre-trimmed over-center style strap. Needless to say I broke one. So I went ahead and bought OEM straps (via parts.subaru.com).
I just picked them up and one thing I noticed is that the OEM straps don't have the tabs/ears that you fold down on top of the excess once you bend it. I'm losing my mind trying to figure out how this is going to go. I have the tool that engages the strap, you roll it up to tighten and then fold it over. After that do I just glue it down? It's really driving me nuts and I appreciate any help anyone can provide. Sorry if I put this in the wrong forum. |

![]() They suck. Try bending it a bit where it will need it to grab once installed. That way you have it at least not unraveling instantly on you

![]() Without being able to see the strap you have you may want to look at the stainless straps used to secure heat wrap. They might not be any better but with a pair of needle nose pliers you can get them snug.
Although I did eventually end up just getting stainless wire, twisting it together, and folding it over... |
