![]() So been busy attempting to get this transmission ready for install. During Cyber Monday/Black Friday picked up a STi ACT HD clutch with Streelite flywheel. Ordered all new flywheel bolts and pressure plate bolts and once those arrived proceeded to put in the new clutch.
![]() Also ordered an STi Group-N Mount for the tranny and installed that. ![]() Picked up new axle seals and input shaft seal. Didn't appear anything wrong with the old ones but since it was on the ground, figured might as well replace them. No pics of the axle seals just input seal. ![]() ![]() Also ordered a new sleeve for the input shaft as the stock one was highly rusted and didn't want to put a new throwout bearing on a rusted shaft ![]() ![]() ![]() Also cleaned up the shift fork and fork pin and put the new throwout bearing in with it all nice and clean. No lube used and she slides nicely on the sleeve ![]() THEN the fun part came. For the past week i've been attempting to put the transmission back in by myself using a motorcycle jack while basically on jack stands. After 3 days of fighting i took out the lower left hand guide bolt and she slipped right in. After it basically falling 19 times on to the subframe i was about to loose it but it finally went in. ![]() Right now I bolted the starter back up, all bellhousing bolts and attached some wiring. I put in the driver side axle, new lower ball joints arrived today so will install those and attached the hubs. Installed new outter tie rods as both were torn. Ordered the iWire VSSPro with PnP wiring, OEM STi short throw and i think that is all i need to button it up and get her back on the road. Slowly getting it back together.

![]() Received some parts over the weekend. Had to order a new transmission to downpipe bracket, rear mount bracket and found out a new u-joint. When I put in the STi **** linkage in the shifter was completely off to the right, this was using the u-joint from the WRX and not STi, didn't realize they were different. Also ordered a new transmission pan due to the one that came with the 6 speed had the nut put on so tight it was destroyed and rounded. After installing everything, filled up the tranmission with some redline and started her up. No downpipe on so only ran it for a second to make sure the clutch engaged in first and didn't make any crazy sounds, at least that i could hear over the non-existent exhaust but so far so good. Waiting on exhaust gaskets to come in today so I can put it all back together and take it for a drive.
![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Also ordered new bushings for the driveshaft because the ones that came with the AT that I ordered off ebay were destroyed. ![]() VSSPro was also installed and so far just going into first goes the speedo is working. Will have to verify GPS speed once I actually able to test drive it. Also ordered all new OEM center console, HVAC cover, shift boot, trim ring, and console, and HVAC vent circles on the sides to replace all the white back to factory colors. Surprised they still make the OEM stuff but man was not cheap. Ordered a driver side retainer assembly that goes above the doors, mine is discolored and bent in the back and unusable. |

![]() Hopefully start her up for a test drive tonight after I get all the gaskets and shift knob in. Ordered a new android radio as well so right now it'll have no radio or shift boot but thats ok as long as everything else works!
I actually order all my stuff from online dealer Subaru Source. The closet dealer to me is 45 mins away, so instead of attempting to match the online price + drive and pick it up, Subaru Source actually has reasonable shipping costs compared to most online dealers. Ordered 11 items from them, including one that is 6feet long and it was only $50 to ship. Usually the stuff comes within a week to 1.5 weeks so not too long to wait for it. |

![]() Whelp first drive didn't go good, didn't even make it out of my driveway. Upon engaging the clutch and rolling it has a "clacking" like stumble from someplace under the driver seat. Lifted on the quickjacks, it shifts through to 3rd no problem, didn't want to take it any faster while lifted on the quickjacks, just wanted to verify it shifts fine through the gears, which it does.
But when its on the ground with load, something is making a clunk or something sound when i attempt to take off by giving it gas then press in the clutch and it rocks causing something to hit. Could be cause its so close to the firewall/tunnel but really don't know.. I really don't feel like dropping the transmission again on the floor as it was such a pain in the ass. Will probably bring it to my buddies friends shop who actually has a lift and can make the job 1000x easier. Not sure if something came loose when i messed up installing it 19x but just not sure what the noise is and its really pissing me off lol. At least i verified the VVSpro was working while up in the air but right now just frustrated with this thing. |

![]() So haven't posted in a while, been waiting on all the interior pieces i ordered which came in today. Also installed a new 10" android radio which has wireless carplay even though I can't even drive the car. They did forget to side one side vent cover so still have one white piece left to change out. I did forget to order the screws for the STi surround so will have to do that.
![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Biggest thing I couldn't wait to replace was the broken side retainer that runs along the whole side. The rear portion was badly warped and warn. Piece alone was $200 but well worth it. passenger side is slighty warn and that i plan on sanding and spraying instead of buying another one. ![]() ![]() Still have to bring the car to a buddies, buddies shop to have them look at the transmission but just haven't done it yet. Eventually that will get done. For now she sits in the garage looking lonely. |

This looks to be the head unit, not sure of the surround trim but that looks pretty sweet. |

![]() I recommend a screen protector ASAP for the head unit. I've had multiple touch screens now and they like to get contaminants/scratches on them fairly easily without one.

![]() They actually email you for year/make/model of car you have to make sure the trim piece is correct so not sure if you'd even have to trim it at all just specify its for the TR they might be able to provide you with the correct trim prior to shipping but not 100% on that.

![]() Think it took like 2 weeks or so. Gets shipped from overseas so takes a bit longer than normal.
