Please for the love of god stop with the flat-brim blacked out a-pillar design. Adding such a sharp line like that to an otherwise smooth profile is a travesty of design and nissan has been doing it forever now. Move on from that "trend."
It doesn't help that toyota just used it with the supra, I'm sure....

I'll definitely check them out; the biggest issue I had with my old 370Z were the slow throttle response, concerns for the concentric slave cylinder, and the big dumb side mirrors that blocked a good share of side view.. and the fact that my STI drove a lot more like a sports car than the Z.

So if those areas are addressed, I don't see why not.. cautiously optimistic.

I'm just curious, since I never drove a 370Z... how was its throttle response compared to the 350Z? Better/worse/same?

I had a G35 Coupe as well and if the 350Z was running the same system (which I assume it was), the G35Coupe was A LOT faster responding and honestly more fun to drive.

370Z had like a near 0.4-0.5sec latency and unacceptable for a sports car.

Interesting.

But I also assume the 350Z/G35 were more or less the same, aside from that 7 hp difference at launch (which I recall being attributed to the slightly different intake systems but was also probably deliberate to give the Z a slight edge, at least on paper). I think even when they switched to that VQ35HR or whatever it was called, I think the numbers were still pretty much the same.

Yep and considering my new Supra has instantaneous throttle response the 400Z better fix that area for certain. I don't like AT cars in general, but the tranny map on this car is actually quite smart so I've learned to like it especially since the car makes all sorts of fun noises, looks very artistic, she's entertaining.

My goal would be to park the 400Z next to my Supra along side my STI.

A lot of the purists hate automatics (understandably so), but that 8-speed auto that is paired with a lot of BMW engines is REALLY good as you've discovered. I don't test drive cars as much as I used to, but I remember when my brother bought his 3-series a few years back, I was pleasantly surprised.

Yeah, when I tried DSG on my old MK7 GTI it was honestly garbage to me with its stupid map and even in manual mode it pissed me off as it just would not shift the way I commanded it especially at lower speeds.

The 8-speed is night/day better to a point it's not even comparable. If this is what AT is going to be like going forward, I'll just keep my STI for MT enjoyment and old school hydraulic steering and keep buying AT sports cars.

Funny that you say that, I know what you mean. I remember when the first DSG-equipped GTIs came out (not sure what generation it was but it was definitely the 2006 model, since it was the same year I bought my first Evo but a few months before), I thought it shifted pretty fast since it was new and definitely faster than autos at that time, but I vaguely remember its shift timing (not how fast it shifted, but when it would shift) being a little off.

I never compared that VW DSG to the current BMW AT in my head, but now that I think about it, I totally agree with your assessment, as far as how those two transmissions compare and how far it's come in the last 15-20 years.

Your Supra has near instant throttle response due primarily to the engine sitting under that hood (BMW). BMW has done a great job of making very linear power at lower RPM with the B58 and N55 engines. If the M2 ditched the S55 and dropped a B58 into it, I’d be throwing my money on a deposit on one and trading on my OG M2.

A catted downpipe alone really opens up those B58’s and don’t need tuning. If you do throw a tune on that is by most means a “conservative” tune, the throttle response and power delivery comes on even soon and remains linear with power delivery damn near towards red line.

Other than the higher engine output ratings, what are the big features of the B58? I need to brush up on my BMW engines.

New Nissan Z Sports Car Officially Teased In Video

About 12 years since launching the 370Z, Nissan is finally announcing a replacement model is on its way. We’ve seen the fan renderings, read the rumors, so it’s only natural we’re now getting an official confirmation the Z sports car will live to see another generation. Published on the company’s YouTube account, the video previews an assortment of all-new models scheduled to be launched in the following period.

As per the company’s plan to turn its fortunes around, Nissan will introduce 12 models in the next 18 months. Thankfully, one of them is going to be the 370Z successor, as briefly teased at the 0:30 mark in the video attached below. The video’s title is “NISSAN NEXT: From A to Z,” hence why it kicks off with the production version of the Ariya and ends with the hotly anticipated sports car.

By the looks of it, the other models teased in the video are future versions of the Armada, Frontier, Kicks, Murano, Navara, Note, Pathfinder, Qashqai, Rogue, and Terra. One glaring omission is the GT-R, which leads us to believe the R36 won’t be coming out anytime soon despite the current-gen model being even older than the Z.

Details about the 370Z successor have not been provided by Nissan, but rumors persist it’s going to be called the 400Z. Allegedly, it’ll borrow the twin-turbo 3.0-liter V6 engine from the Infiniti Q60 Red Sport 400, good for at least 400 horsepower or even closer to 500 hp. It should stick to its rear-wheel-drive roots and offer both a stick shift and an automatic to please both worlds.

The endless rumors about the new Z adopting a retro design are beginning to make sense as we’re getting a 240Z vibe from the heavily sloped roofline and the prominent rear wheel arches. It appears to have a much larger front grille than the current model, along with redesigned rounder LED headlights eschewing the boomerang shape of the 370Z.

2021 Nissan Z Teased For The First Time, Shows 240Z Styling Influences

Nissan released a new video to tease its upcoming new models, which included our first look at the much anticipated 2021 Z sports car.

From what we can tell, the new Nissan Z confirms previous reports that suggested it will draw inspiration from the original 240Z for its styling, featuring cleaner lines than the 370Z but without looking too retro.

The front end of the 2021 Z is getting a pair of LED headlights shaped in a circle as a tribute to the iconic 240Z while the front grille appears to be model-specific and not related to the V-Motion design language of the brand.

The roofline slopes towards the back in typical Z fashion but the rear end appears to be less rounded compared to the 370Z and more like the classic Z models. The new model is reportedly going to be based on a revised version of the 370Z platform.

Other than that, there isn’t much official information on Nissan’s new sports car. Power is expected to come from a twin-turbo 3.0-liter V6 engine, the same one as featured on some Infiniti models, with a rating of around 400 HP. Unlike some of its competitors, Nissan is also expected to offer both manual and automatic transmission options.

Most reports suggest that Nissan will pick the ‘400Z’ nameplate for the new Z sports car, which if true it will break with the traditional displacement-based nomenclature of the model.

Nissan has just announced that it will introduce 12 new models in the next 18 months as part of its new strategy. These will include the Ariya electric SUV, Armada, Frontier, Pathfinder, Terra, Rogue, Qashqai, and of course the new Z among others.

Wow. I REALLY REALLY hope these cars kick ass. All of them. Whether you're a Nissan fan or hate them, or somewhere in between remember competition is good people. This company needs a reboot and I'm hoping it works.
As far as the Z goes, I'm hoping they don't go overboard with the retro styling. I'm hoping they can pull off the ass-end better than what I think I'm seeing in the video/pictures.

Same. I could be a potential buyer. For me it's this "Last Dance" of new performance models about to hit. I'm going to buy one of them, just don't know which as none of them have been released yet. For the Japanese, new Z, new STi, new BRZ.
