Agreed... This is why I have chosen to Update my car with OE JDM Stuff for the most part.. .. as its more authentic than the new ones in my Mind.. not knocking the new ones.. its all about the money.. Subaru is "not" Dumb.. The opportunity to make more money with all the Creature comforts was not by accident either.. When the original STi Came out here in the US/Canada.. Purist's loved it... But most of the AVG consumer is not a PURIST like we are here.. Hence why Subaru Came out with the STi Limited here to facilitate the influx of none Purist's.. No wing, Leather, Sunroof.. etc.. That started the path of 'Chunk' STi's IMO...I honestly feel like I got one of the last 'PURE Enthusiast' Cars they made.. as thats how Subaru of America/Canada Marketed them when they came out.

Very cool! It's nice to see a driven but cared for OEMish build these days. It's refreshing with so many hacked up, wacked out cars floating around currently.

Guess I've never looked very closely at any '04 STI's to notice the radio delete either! The Group N stuff is great for performance, but I certainly noticed bit more NVH after installing on my car, which I definitely don't mind, but could see others griping about.

Forgive my ignorance as I'm only a few years into the turbo Subaru stuff, but what was the difference in the steering racks? Just ratio?
I ask because I have a leaky rack in my '05 WRX wagon that the original owner certainly cared for and swapped a bunch of JDM and aftermarket parts on, but I'm owner #4 and a lot of mods were "lost in translation", so I have no idea what's actually installed in the car other than the obvious STI badged items.....

Exactly.. Hacked up is pretty much right... There are some nice ones out there.. but the majority are not very tasteful IMO... Thanks Tho Thats exactly what I am trying to achieve.

The Steering rack was 'solidly' mounted vs. the old bushing system they use to use... it had direct mounting. which later became a standard feature in all racks. and yes the ratio.

Picked up a set of these today .. KILLER DEAL... couldn't pass them up. some minor curbage on one of them.. But They should be ok to put on while the original Goldies get redone.

Got my clamps and new intake seal edging for the K&N Typhoon Intake. Thanks to K&N for their AWESOME Customer Service. and quick shipping I was able to clean up the hose clamps to the correct ones and able to get the intake to 'reseal' to the hood as it designed.

Also got some BOOM BOOM POW ready to Install.. 12in selfpowered 600Watt Sub.. to go with my component Pioneer Stereo thats installed. might be a while to actually hook it up.. and I need to figure out how I want to mount this thing.. I didn't realize how big it was when I bought it .. LOL




And last but not least a couple of pics of the Actual 2017 STi Factory Wheels... should be decent when I pull the Goldie's off to get them refinished this winter.

Looking at the Intake heatshield in the pic.. I guess I need to clean it up and refinish it.. its been on the car since I first bought it..It looks a bit out of place with the presentation I am trying to accomplish.

As for the BOOM BOOM POW.. yeah.. I am old.. What are you saying???

Went to crank the car up and let it warm up.. NADA..Zilch...Absolutely no power.. Battery??? probably.. Can a battery actually die like that??? its on a trickle charger.. but its not showing any activity.. SIGH.... Just an expense I wasn't expecting..

That's odd on the battery, especially being on a trickle charger..... Only other easy thing I could think is if somehow one of the terminals was VERY LOOSE and corroded to boot, which I'm guessing would be unlikely given the condition of the rest of the car. Easy enough to troubleshoot at least?

I was liking this thread from the beginning. Saw you're wheel choice and fell in love. I LOVE THOSE WHEELS! Wish I had them for my car now. This is an awesome project man. Love the documentation process. Makes me want to get another peanut eye.

I had my battery die on the current car (2016) late last year, so I know the pain. If it already doesn't hold charge I wouldn't bother checking fluid which should be done periodically. Autozone it and test it. Going to be a decent bill for a new one.

Hmmmmmm .. That would be pretty awesome. .. Gold.. I am not very good with photoshop...but if someone could make them Gold so I could see it, it would be very insightful and helpful ..I can only visualize soo much..

As for the Battery.. it is 5 months old .. it was replaced by the previous owner as part of the transition back to me.. the terminals were in near perfect shape.... Trying to get ahold of him to see if he has a receipt. ... Took it into AutoZone where it was originally purchased and they did a test on it.. it was only at 2.7 Volts... So they are going to put it on the charger and see if it will come back.. My thoughts are there are some Defective plates inside the battery... We'll see.. and we'll see how AutoZone Handles it.... if they replace it.. Great..if they don't.. then I know how they treat their customers.. :/ Anyways.. We'll see tomorrow . Thanks everyone..

Wow I like your re-acquired project. I do not usually side with gold wheels. But those wheels in gold looks pretty good with under white. Like a slightly updated factory look but not going too far. Keep up the good work. Subscribed for updates.

Geez, both colors look real good! Tough call! If it were me, I'd keep the stock silver/gray finish, since you already have some gold wheels. I just bought some used 2013ish WRX wheels in the factory silver/gray color to use as my autocross/track wheels, but rock my gold V7's for daily duty on my silver wagon. I like the change of color "pace" haha.

This was my original thought... since I have the factory Goldies.. but I have to admit.. the new ones in Gold are quite stunning.. just don't know if its enough to sway me into doing it.. might leave the 18's stock for a while to "change the pace" so to speak Thanks for your insight.
