Shifting is not my enjoyment of the drive. That's why the shift to EV won't bug me. Sure, I enjoy the sound of a good engine; but, meh. My only negative towards EV is range and/or charging times. My mother lives 12 hours away.

If the STI doesn't impress, auto or not, GT will be ordered.
Since 2001 I have owned 5 manuals, 2 CVT and 2 Teslas (single gear). My last manual was the 2018 STI which I miss (except for the harsh suspension, not her fault, our roads fault). Teslas (or any one-pedal drive EV) is in between manual and automatic bc you can drive it really poorly, and you need to modulate your foot to be smooth, like a manual. I miss driving manual, but I know sometimes it is nice to just cruise and not think about it. I rented a 5MT Suzuki Jimny in Iceland, slow and unrefined, but it was fun to shift again. The clutch/gates reminded me of a WRX.

I hear ya. I've been w/o a manual now for a couple of years and I miss it. My next car will have a ZF8-AT, if the factory gets over the shortages, and I am worried I'll get bored with it. I need a three car so I can have another STI also.

for those of you patiently waiting for Subaru to bring in another WRX wagon, you should just got get the AMC Eagle Sport Wagon, seems there are those here that agree this is a suitable replacement.

The white WRX doesn't look as bad as other colors IMO. You would think that it'd look worse since the white does the opposite of helping the plastic cladding blend in, but I think I'm just a huge sucker for black and white/panda/stormtrooper two-tone themes.

The orange car used in all the press pictures is by far the worst color. The car is still butt ugly in any color but I think the initial reactions would have been more favorable if they used a "regular" color.

I have zero hope of that and are not showing the Levorg because I necessarily want it. It's to illustrate Subaru designers can execute a decent design with the same exact model. They chose not to for the sedan. But the spot they painted on the rear of the Levorg could also work for the WRX. The Crosstrek fender garnish is another matter. I don't actually dislike that part. It's the entire thing taken together that the comparisons to the Levorg become infuriating.

You must have forgotten that the Levorg is not of Rally Heritage. The WRX is. I am happy to see this thread is generating close to 400k views. Only of a matter of time until Straight6 shows pics of his new 2022 WRX, that will easily bring in another 100K views.

Whatever SOA spent was a little bit of nothing. There were no major media investments or asset investments other than some auto show displays and a media event that they typically don't do for special editions. The development money came from Japan.

Every single one of these events I've attended since forever ago has had a WRX that looked like this:

Yeah that's just pure sex. Subaru should've benchmarked that instead.

Porsche should invest on some R&D/wind tunnels/engineers or something. This just proves that Subaru is ahead of the game in this department over some of the best in the industry.

No no no, they deliberately went against science of textures. Roof boxes were a priority.

Such an ignorant company.

what's funny is the CT Taycan customers complain about the plastic fenders on their forum as well. They get them painted, order them painted, or remove them

Actually a decent article from Porsche about testing and image. Plastic cladding makes sense on an off-road vehicle like this. They even tested bike racks.

https://newsroom.porsche.com/en/2021...mme-23687.html

Subaru skipped a step or three.

The WRX is just getting unfairly judged because it's a sedan.

Where is the barf emoji. This site could use a good barf emoji. Because that Forester is hideous. What a mess. Likely a great selling mess, but a mess nonetheless.

You won't. I have a Supra 2.0 and in Sport Mode is has aggressive shifting, it even aggressively downshifts. I love it. That being said, I have a Miata and a newer Mazda 6 to row the gears in when I feel the need. I have no regrets w the ZF8, none.

I can only imagine what all that black plastic will look like in a few years.

I'd settle for a lowly Panamera CT over the Taycan CT.
