Back to back Camshaft dyno plots??
Is there any no bull****, real information, regarding power pickup with camshafts in our engines?
If you have some back to back dyno plots or testimonials about your cams, please post them up. |

I'd love to find some concrete info but there really is no such thing as back to back when it comes to dynoing a car, pulling the motor to swap cams, then dynoing again. That's a lot of work and time in between just to compare numbers.
I changed to many things when I installed my cams so I can't attribute all my gains to just the cams. |

I changed a lot of things also when I installed my cams (cosworth 278/274 avcs) but I'm happy I got em, besides the fact that the first set of cams broke. Comparing maf volts to boost pressure, the difference is night and day. At 22psi on pump/93 with the cammed built motor I made slightly more HP than my stock motor+35r did at 26psi on 93+meth.... and it made more power with 5 degrees less ignition timing and a full point AFR richer. But I also changed the fmic, headers, uppipe, had some head porting done, larger valves, pistons/rods, etc.

I wish I could rev my engine out to make use of some of the higher duration camshafts.. I really wish there was some solid evidence of how much just camshafts affect our engines.

Eventhough I'm only rocking an 18G right not the car itself is much more excited in the upper rpm range and there's not a day when I don't get jiggy @ 7600rpm. I have the 3076 ready to go and I'm stoked because if my car feels this good with the 18G on it, it's gonna be re-goddamdickulous with the 3076 on + cams.

I've posted this up few times but I'll post it again. This was a 2.5L with 2.0 STI heads, stock cam vs kelford 272 cam, everything else was the same. Picked up almost 80whp at 7000rpm.

The heads were large-port heads to begin with (non-AVCS) but they were the same in both plots. The stock 2.0 cam profile in the 2.0 head is simply too mild for the 2.5 bottom end. If I was running 2.5 heads with stock STI cams it would probably fall between the two plots.
Basically, I think this is a best case scenario because it's a hybrid. You may not see the same magnitude of gains in another setup until you're pushing a lot of air through the motor. There's a couple of posts showing tremendous gains with the GSC cams on TopSpeeds time attack car, you might want to search for those as well. |

Just about any good aftermarket cam with the right supporting mods is going to pick you up at least 60whp.I personally prefer kelfords and with talking with Kevin Ban the owner of Kelford he grinds a lot of the custom cams for the Rigolis and their **** flies.
