Default All-terrain tires

Looking for some all terrain style tires for my 95 impreza. I have 2 sets of wheels the stock 14" wheels and a set of stock 16" wheels from a 04 wrx. I may be picking up a set of 04 17" Bbs wheels if the price is right. I'm not looking to jack the car up just trying to find an aggresive tire. The car is mostly driven off road and I want something a little better then your average radial tire. I really havnt had much luck the only thing I could find were snow tires. Give me some ideas or point me in the right direction.

I might do some rallyx but no I'm talking about the 95 impreza. Not rallying just driving offroad through the woods. beleive it or not the sti is still in good shape for 5 years old.

Ditto on General Grabbers. That's the closest you'll find for an off-road tire that might fit your car. Option two is what the rally-x folks use and that is the Winterforce winter tires. You won't have a lot of protection from punctures, but they grab very well and are dirt cheap.

this thread came to mind.

http://www.dirtyimpreza.com/forums/s...ad.php?t=11053

there are also other subforums there particular to your car and year that you could check out.

i'm planning to throw a set of grabbers on my stock 16" wheels. heard good things and they are cheaper and lighter than the bfg at2's.

there are VERY few AT tires that are under 28" in diameter

the General Grabbers are almost a default choice

You may want to look at a set of used hard-compound rally gravel tires. They have a much tougher sidewall than any street legal tire and a have a good blocky tread pattern, however they are a pain on pavement and can't be used in winter.

I think il check out the general grabber at tires that everyone is recomending.
By the way I entered my sti in a Scca tsd road rally last weekend and took first place novice class. The stock brodgestone potenzas are probally great for track duty but are terrible on public roads.

What a lot of STI drivers around here do is get a set of Nokian WR's for winter and put them on if they know they are going out for some back road exploring in summer.

Deffiantly get the grabbers, I have them on my car. They are absolute beastly, I drove across country with them and they barely lost any tread. Now I go out every weekend to play in the desert and they cant be beat.Their 215/65/16.

that tire is 27" tall and is, really, at the upper limit for diameter as the factory 205/55 re92 is 25.1" and 2 inches when discussing tires is a LOT

and yer rig looks pretty good like that

Gclark, we talked about this a little over at DI a few months ago. I am torn right now between getting the grabbers or some kind of winter tire; I was wondering if you tried fitting the grabbers on there before you did the 1" JR lift.

thanks!

I think that looks fantastic - what parts did you use to lift it like that?

he used the jackson rally lift kit. it provides a 1" lift. it is a spacer and longer stud combo with sits on top of the strut tower.

How much do you need to raise the impreza to fit them on there? I'm looking at the geolanders and found some springs that will lift my vehicle (05 rs) 1.5" would that be sufficient?

1.) look at the post dates before responding to a thread. This thread is nearly a decade year old, which leads me to the second point.

2.) search. this has been covered. in the brakes/steering/suspension subforum there is an entire thread on lifting your impreza and what kind of tires you can expect to use.
