Default jdm ej205 swap into wrx

Started right up, no check engine light. The JDM engine does not have TGV's or a EGT sensor for the uppipe. Leave it unplugged, I have been running this setup for the last few months and couldn't be happier with the results.

Using the USDM ECU is a chore, just swap out the entire engine with the JDM engine harness included(not the body harness) and JDM ecu and repin the ecu and original wrx body harness with the IAperformance kit and you're good to go.

When it comes to tuning; you will need an opensource tune (tactrix cable) from a reputable company since the Cobb AP is not functional with the JDM ecu.

I got an 04 engine and tranny for 2k out the door with the ecu. Everything matted up with no trouble.

If you have any questions, let me know.
Im new here. Holping for some help? Swapped usdm ej205 to jdm ej205 with avcs ,installed i.a performance wiring kit, was under the asumption that I received a ver7 avcs jdm ecu with motor.problem car starts and runs with stock ecu, but not with the jdm ver8 ecu. When turning key , don't hear any power going to the fuel pump

Would I need the tgv delete if I don't have emission laws?

Jackassofalltrades. What ECU are you running? As in part#? I am sorry to be hijacking this thread. I am new here and I don't have a post count high enough to start one. I am have been searching however, I cannot find a post with the same scenario as mine. I have an '02 WRX wagon. One of my timing belt idler pulleys decided to remove itself from the engine and crashed the valves. I bought a JDM ej205 with AVCS and ECU. Once I got the motor on the stand I noticed it was "fly by wire". I am guessing that I can't use this ECU and that I will need to use my intake manifold. I want to utilize the AVCS system though. So, my question is what ECU do I need to use a throttle cable and AVCS? Do I need to swap the entire intake manifold or could I just swap throttle bodies? Again sorry for the hijack. Hoping another Ohioan, among others could help me.

Did the ej205 avcs swap into my 03 wrx all i did was threw my td04l, headers, accessories, and top part of intake manifold and my usdm wireharness, dropped in and it fired right up. Of course i have tgv codes but they dont effect engine performance. But you can easily use the cobb ap and get an etune to get it shut off.

Default help on swap JDM ej205 into 06' baja turbo

The 2.5 turbo ended up with burned valves due to TD05 swap without getting a tune to balance for increased boost. Cheapest route for a swap by far seemed to be a JDM EJ205. Most of the information I got from forums and the engine importer said: Us your USDM intake manifold and up-pipe with sensors on the JDM engine and it will run fine with no codes......

I ordered and received a AVCS EJ205. When swapping over I found the JDM Camshaft position sensors (on top of the head rear of the engine) are a 2 wire sensor with 2 wire plug. I pulled these sensors and installed the USDM sensors utilizing a larger O ring as the hole is larger than on the 2.5 block.......

The engine started and it runs, but it misses and surges at part throttle and I get CPS error codes...... It also is nowhere close to the power I got with the 2.5 when it does pull clean.

Another person has explained on another forum that the JDM CPS sensor is magnetic and the USDM sensor is hall effect. He swapped in the USDM camshaft in order to make it work with the USDM sensor.

Is there another way to make it run right?

What about unplugging AVCS and CPS alltogether, will it run ok without codes?

I really don't want to pull this engine again to swap the cams. Really I want to sell this car and don't want to spend alot of time money on it. I have been told $500+ for a tune locally. I live about 1 hour south of Raleigh, NC.

Please if you have advice make sure you know. There are a lot of people on line posting what they heard from a friend say may work as if it's a fact they are sure of. If you don't know for sure please offer it as a suggestion that may work and not something definate.
All help appreciated

So if I did this swap I would have to put 2.0 heads on?
