Default help please URGENT , 6spd wrx 4th gear grind

hello ,

i own a 2004 wrx (6 spd) , 2 months ago i started having an issue with my transmission ,the issue is that the gear is really hard to put in 1st or reverse in a dead stop , so the mechanic told me to change the gear oil , he advised to change it to (liqui moly 75w90 ls) and after 3 weeks from changing to that oil i faced another issue , the 4th gear started grinding when i shift fast or when i downshift from 5th to 4th ,so i changed the gear oil again to (kendall gear oil 75w90) and i'm still facing both of the issues , i've read about the cocktails but here in my country the only oil available is motul gear 300

can i change my transmission oil to motul gear 300 only (will it fix the issue or prevent the grind) , without mixing it with another fluid ?
is there anything i can do to fix the issue , without replacing the synchros ?

yes its wrx , i swapped a 6 spd in it
the current clutch is beaten , and i'll install a new one next week

after installing the new clutch, should i change the gear oil to motul gear 300 ? , or keep the current oil and try to shift with the new clutch ?

Motul 300 75w90 is a good choice - don't bother with cocktails on the 6MT. I would avoid limited-slip additive fluids for the front since you don't have a plated front diff. and these will accelerate wear on the synchros. They can help you get a little extra life near the end of a synchro, but that's just a crutch until you get around to rebuilding it - it isn't fixing anything.

You cannot repair mechanical wear with oil. If the synchros are shot, they need to be replaced.

I have an '06 with a built motor and a JDM non-dccd 06-speed. 4th gear has always been just a touch cranky. Lately, however, I have been having the same issue with getting it into gear. I'll often have to put it into 4th or 6th to engage first in neutral. I think it's just flat wearing out, as I'm sure the tranny has well over 100k miles at this point. When the dealer changed the tranny fluid last week they noticed metal flakes.

Eventually I'll be getting the tranny rebuilt by my tuner, who knows how to work on 6MT's. Just saving up now for what likely will be about 3500.00.

Best of luck in your case.

$3500 is pretty steep for something you can probably do yourself...

True, although I'm a much better handyman than modern auto mechanic. When I have a chunk of spare time I usually work on our house, which has saved us a lot of money over the years (including building it). Right now I'm facing up to another house project. So that's my trade-off for having someone else work on the car.
