*Getting out at KFC*

Guy: Is that your car? It looks sweet!
Me: Why yes it is thank you.
Guy: I was just admiring that big scoop on the hood....it definitely catches your attention.
Me: Yes it does but it's necessary since the intercooler for the turbo is under there.
Guy: Oh okay..... Four on the floor right?
Me : Uhhh no it's a 5 speed...
Guy: You're kidding! And this is a 2013 right?
Me: No it's a 2007.
Guy: Oh wow where have I been!
Me: Clearly under a rock.....
Guy: Well it's a really nice car!
Me: Thanks man....

LOL, I wonder what the guy would've said if you had an STi with a 6-speed or one of those new 7-speed Porsche 911s.

I think his head might have exploded. He was amazed almost as if he had never heard of anything over a 4-speed haha.

Coworker always asking me to race him in his custom hotrod. I always decline and he says yeah you can beat me on the corners but not on the straights lol. He drove his car in one day, but it wasn't my week to carpool my WRX that week:

^Pretty cool. Bumperless, fenderless Model A roadster pick up. Looks like a SBC. Might beat you in the straights, but it'll sure be scary doing it.

Not something funny someone said necessarily... but a stupid person and their stupid behavior.

Stopped at a light at an offramp and saw this mustang sitting in the next lane over just in front of me.

It's a bad phone pic, sorry... but what it says is "Imports are like tampons... every pu$$y has one"
This was a completely stock older V6 base model mustang.
He was going through the intersection normally until when I started to move pass him after the turn and he looked over and saw me in the STI and immediately floored it to "speed" off as fast as his little mustang could go. This was during a busy time of day on a 40mph road. He went off winding in and out through traffic at what I estimated to be about 85-90mph.

Very typical mustang driver (by far the worst drivers I usually experience), but just a bit more comical then usual do to the sticker and the fact it was a bone stock V6.

Had to leave the WRX at the dealer today... for a broken seat spring (btw, found out the spring removal mod is NOT for my old man lower back lol).

Anyhow, the employee giving me a ride to work is backing out, asks about my car, and I point it out.

This is a Mazda/Subaru dealer. A minute later:

Her: So, you have a Mazda right?
Me: No, it's a Subaru, but I forgive you.

She was nice, and I wasn't a jerk, but I realized along the ride that she was in customer-facing mode and wasn't really listening to anything I was saying, just responding (like when I told her my boss pulled her hamstring and couldn't drive her car because it was a manual, she replied "Yeah, it sucks when any part of your car is tore up." )

What a total douche. Props to you for resisting the urge to stomp it and put that little prick in his place. One thing I hate about having my Sonic Yellow WRX. I always get stupid pricks trying to race me or cut me off.

Not a story about my Subaru, but a boyfriend of a family friend was riffing with me about cars and made an ass of himself. Conversation started because I was giving some family friends a joy ride in my supercharged civic si. Later in the evening this guy starts asking about what I have done to it, how fast it goes, etc, etc.

Him: 'Hey, that's a cool civic! I only have a ford escort right now. I want an STI though!'

Me: 'cool cool, they're great cars, fun to play with'

Him: 'yeah, I'm gonna buy an STI when I get my enlistment bonus soon!'

Me: 'should be plenty of money towards one, but they are expensive'

Him: 'yeah I'm gonna get a white one, puts rims on it, a stereo, and maybe put a turbocharger on it too!'

Me: 'yeah that ish would be off the hook...'

It's one thing to talk shop when you don't have a clue what you're talking about, but talking about buying a $40k sports compact when you don't even realize it comes with an OEM turbo? A bit much to stomach.

Lol. These days when I see people look at eachother's cars, they pop open the trunk instead of the hood -__-

Went to Auto Zone. Caahier is asking about my car I said I had an STI. Another employee walks over and says "they aren't that great, and they are hard to tune, I have a 416whp audi S6."

I looked at him for a moment and said "well thats great man."

He proceeds to say "yeah STI's just aren't that fast how is yours even tuned?"

"Accessport" I replied.

Guy says "My buddy has a Mazdaspeed 3 with one it's fast too."

At that point I ignored the guy and left. It's always fun hearing the things people say who don't know our cars, or us.

Two fun conversations in one day! This never happens to me.

1st was at a stoplight
Him: Nice car, what kind of turbo?
Me: Stock, but an upgrade is in the works.
Him: Wow I didn't know the stock turbo could sound that good.
Me: Its mostly the exhaust, but thanks! (Running full catless straight pipe Ghymkhana exhaust)

2nd was at gas station and with a giant redneck in a huge lifted ford.
Him: That your subaru?
Me: Yep!
Him: I hate subarus
Me: Well I think they are great. Fun in all conditions and very reliable
Him: Ya, but they aren't american.
Me: Exactly why I own one!
At that point I took my exit. Thought it best to avoid getting jumped by a redneck haha.
