Going back to stock wheels for comfort and tire cost... I think it actually looks cleaner, thoughts?

If you run a nice tire you wont see anymore noticeable understeer unless your tracking it. Go with like a pilot supersport or advan s4... 16.5lb wheel 19 lb tire... prolly pick up a couple tenths and 1-2 mpg |

I liked the other wheels Ibreel, what size were your old wheels? 17's? And the stockers are 16's. But isn't it the other way around, since you went smaller you have less weight and the rotational spin is not as long so your 17' wheels, so your stockers will spin 2x faster which expends more gas than saves. Tires are what like barely cheaper? I'm runnin 18's I'm looking to get into 17's bc it is so cheap compared. Idk it's all personal. Choice. |

There are two factors. Overall weight, and location of weight in relation of distance to center. For example 16's with factory spec tires and bbs 17's with factory spec tires are only around a 1% difference in overall diameter. The 16's are 16.5 lbs and the BBS 17s aare 16 lbs, bigger wheels tend to push the mass out towards the edge where it takes more power to spin them up, since tires generally are the heaviest part of the setup. But have smaller sidewalls resulting in less understeer. And thats factory. Rotas for example weigh oh 4-5 lbs more a wheel than factory bbs. General consensus is wheel weight is a 6:1 ratio tire weight is a 8-10:1 so each pound of rotating mass has the same effect as adding 6-10 pounds of weight to the car. What you are thinking of is comparing overall diameters. If you are increasing that on your car without changing the gear ratios to compensate you are pulling your whole vehicle out of its proper powerband. Which can be a very bad thing. |
