Angry Point a computer noob in the right direction!

I have a computer, I know how to use all of the basic functions of the computer but I don't know how to do lots of things and it pisses me off!!!

My OS is Windows XP and I use Office XP.

I know Word fairly well but excel and powerpoint I lack in knowledge.

My question is, should I just take some course to get brought up to speed on all the basics, or should I just mess around with each program until I figure it out. I do this now but I just get pissed off and quit!

I know this stuff comes easy to most of you guys but have pity on me and point me in the right direction!!

Take a class.. alot of Schools may have classes that you can pay 10-20 dollars to get up to date on alot of the newer programs...

Taking a class might be good but nothing beats hands on, just start the project early so you have the extra time to mess around with it. I tend to forget the functions that I don't use frequently, like the stat analysis tools when I don't use it over the summer.
