Default my best friend in the whole world died yesterday in the flood...

my wrx

it was a stg4 car. im guessing it sucked up water through my open egt bung in my uppipe while water rose over my hood leaving my friends house. it ran like **** and blew black smoke until it finally let go. im parting it out slowly then getting something a little more reliable and practical. IF IF IF IF i do fix it, itll be good times. but from what the shop is telling me, theres no point in fixing it

Dude, sooooo sorry to hear that. What's up with the water over the hood though, that's pretty deep. I had a crazy drive home yesterday from San Antonio with flooded roads everywhere.

What exactly did the mechanic say was wrong? Did the motor freeze up, do you have to have it flushed out, is all the electrical wiring gone? There's alot of things, was it sitting in hood deep water or did you simply suck up water and kill the motor? I have my 3rd motor in the Subbie, I don't think it can be all that bad UNLESS of course it just was sitting still somewhere and got flooded over.

i will ship the prodrive lip. pm me.

im not sure what happened. leaving my gfs house the water was over my hood. and it stalled out and was hard to start up. but i figured thats bc of my cracked y-pipe. i guess not. i dont know any further info until tonight sometime. i think it is wiring too bc my speedometer quit working a few times. and it wont go over 20mph until it died.

=\

if it sucked water through your uppipe then it might be a easy fix. Dead turbo. uppipe through turbine housing out the downpipe. no water in engine. Now if you sucked it through your intake ... dead. .

P.S sorry for your loss.
p.s.s why did you drive through the stinking water knowing you were vulernable(sp)

my question too, ...when you knew it was flooded, why did you drive your lowered car in the water, ...especially if it went over your hood!! Were you speeding through the water? do you have a CAI? Very curious to what happened. Sorry to hear your gonna lose the car, ...but it kinda seems like either you wanted it to happen or were just not thinking by driving through a flood. Either way, I hope things turn out in your favor. Good luck with everything. ...and i'll miss that car too, ...always liked it.

no

that was pretty dumb of you to do. i would never drive through a flood that high...
you could have called the school to have the mid term rescheduled because of the flood.
i would blame your gf on this.

and why are you driving around in a car that has a problem?

The car would also simply die if water went up the exhaust side.

Did you push it outta the water as soon as it stalled or did it stay stranded there?

the wheels are 17s w/ a 225/45/17 tire. throw me an offer.

basically, i didnt know it was that high until it was too late. driving in was fine, i slowly went through it, came up to about my bumper but was fine. 10 min later, i leave and go the same way. all the sudden i see it inching over my hood. not good. tried to back up and it wasnt doing anything. i had about 10 ft until i was out of it so i took it really slow.

greg, i have no cai. just the stocker. and i think i might have over-reved.

tek, its a family friend shop by my house. hes done a lot of work to my car over the past few yrs.

when allison raped houston, my vw jetta was flooded all the way to the hood also, but i didnt try and start it... it was stuck in the deep water till it drained a day later. i didnt start it up. i pushed it to my driveway. (it was in my neighborhood) and put it up on jack stands, drained out the oil/water mix, removed the oil pan to let it dry out for about a week. then i filled it back up with cheap oil and started it, and it started right up! i let it run for like 30 minutes then drained that oil and used good oil after that and bam! my car was fixed

Sorry to hear about that. There was a time when I wanted something like that to happen. Now it would kill me to loose my car. That being said I would love to improve the looks of mine with your headlights. Are they HID? How much do you want for them?

Sorry,

Dave

I'm really sorry to hear about what happened. It doesn't matter now what he should have done or why he did it , I know it could have happened to me.

Well at least it wasn't a person that got killed, that's what I thought from reading the title.
