![]() The 302 Boss and GT500 were out at the same time. Z28 and ZL1 coexisted. I think this is wishful thinking from owners who want inflated resale values.

![]() I drive mine, so I'm not overly concerned with resale. Life's too short to buy something like the Shelby and store it in bubble wrap on the off chance that it will be a collectible. I consider it my civic duty to share the sound of that FPC echoing off the canyon walls on the way up to our house. 'Murica. |

![]() Man what's up with US dealers and ADM? I'm not overly sympathetic because you guys still pay the lowest price for automobiles relative to the rest of the world but I'm just surprised manufactures allow dealers to do this as all it does is piss off the consumer and cause a lot of inventory to collect dust as with the Focus RS.

![]() 2020 Ford Mustang Shelby GT500 Releases Cobra
700-plus-hp pony car shows off massive hood bulge Ford’s most powerful production car ever is shaping up nicely, as these latest spy shots show. Prototypes believed to be camouflaged GT500 mules have been spotted before, but never with so many revealing details about the upcoming super pony car. This prototype is clearly identifiable as a GT500 thanks to the Cobra badge in the grille and the large power bulge in the hood. The hood also has prominent heat extractor vents, which are likely needed to cool its supercharged 5.2-liter V-8. The prototype wears wider fenders, but they don’t appear much wider than those on the GT350R. Regardless, the tires they cover look plenty meaty. Curiously, some of the markings on the tires appear to have been scraped off. They definitely belong to the Michelin Pilot Sport family of summer tires, but they could be a new model—perhaps one developed specifically for the GT500 the way Nitto made special NT05Rs for the Dodge Challenger SRT Demon. Interestingly, this mule has dual rear brake calipers like the Ford GT. The prototype wears side skirts similar to those found on the GT350R, but there are new aero elements tacked on in the front. It’s difficult to say if those are production or just there for testing, but they look incomplete as is. In back, this mule is missing the large fixed rear wing we saw in the teaser animation that accompanied the GT500’s announcement, but the large, round quad exhaust tips and unique rear fascia are still there. When it confirmed the existence of a new GT500 at the Detroit auto show in January, Ford said the car would be its most powerful ever with more than 700 hp. Other details are scarce, but leaks hint at a supercharged version of Ford’s flat-plane-crank 5.2-liter “Voodoo” V-8 called the “Predator.” We’ll see the Ford Mustang Shelby GT500 officially in 2019, but for now these spy shots give us our best look yet. http://www.automobilemag.com/news/20...897F48B3E6E72E |

![]() What To Expect From The Next Ford Shelby GT500 Mustang
We’ve been seeing a lot of the 2020 Ford Shelby GT500 Mustang lately, and a series of intelligence reports and encounters with spy photographers has told us a lot about what we can likely expect from the forthcoming blue-collar supercar. The new model isn’t planned for launch until sometime next year, but in the meanwhile, lets take a look at everything we’ve learned about it, from the probably-true to the certain. Supercharged 5.2L “Predator” V8 That the 2020 Ford Shelby GT500 Mustang will be propelled by a supercharged V8 engine is a given, but it’s not been confirmed what, exactly, that engine will look like. However, word is that the new high-performance pony car will use a 5.2L V8 wearing the code name “Predator”. Although the displacement is about the same as that of the high-revving “VooDoo” engine in the Shelby GT350, this new motor is expected to have a more down-to-earth redline, and no flat-plane crankshaft. Spy photographers have even reported hearing a characteristic cross-plane-crank burble from prototype cars, and while Ford could certainly just use a supercharged version of its trusty 5.0L “Coyote”, a spy photo published last December showed an aluminum supercharger housing with the Shelby Cobra logo and “5.2L” stamped into it. As Much As 772 Horsepower Consider this a bit less certain: the 2020 Ford Shelby GT500 Mustang could produce as much as 772 horsepower from its supercharged “Predator” V8. That figure comes from a photo published in a 2018 Mustang brochure showing the car’s optional digital instrument panel, which showed a big “7” as the current gear and “72” as the current speed. Automakers love placing obscure “Easter Eggs” in their own official photos, and seeing as the manufacturer had only just announced the GT500 and its 700+ horsepower target earlier in the month, it’s easy to imagine that that’s precisely what Ford was doing. Manual And Automatic Options Quite recently, spy photographers managed to capture the new Shelby GT500 Mustang testing with a manual transmission, so we can safely expect that as an option in the new model. However, unlike the stick-only Shelby GT350, the newer, more potent Shelby will also offer an automatic transmission for those who want it. What is unknown is what automatic that will be. Common sense might tell us to expect Ford’s 10-speed planetary automatic, which has been deployed across the F-150 range, the Mustang range, and in products like the Ford Expedition and Lincoln Navigator. Yet rumors persist that the Shelby GT500 will be the recipient of a very special 7-speed dual-clutch unit, and spy photographers have reported hearing some very dual-clutch-like noises from prototypes. It’s also been rumored that the less-potent GT350 could receive the same. The Return Of The GT500KR “KR” is an historic badge that stands for “King of the Road”, and rumor has it that the “GT500KR” badge will return for 2020 on an extra-high-performance version of the new Shelby GT500. That might explain why the car shown in Ford’s recent hype video appears to have a massive rear wing mounted to the decklid while the bulk of the prototypes that have been spotted don’t seem to have any distinguishing aero. Will the GT500KR get more power or better suspension components? That’s unknown, but it’s quite possible that the new “King of the Road” could at least receive the same carbon-fiber wheels as the Shelby GT350R. The new Shelby GT500 is slated to launch next year as a 2020 model, and it will compete directly with the Chevrolet Camaro ZL1 and, to a bit of a lesser extent, the Dodge Challenger SRT Hellcat. We’ll have more as it develops, so stay tuned. 2020 Ford Mustang Shelby GT500 2020 GT500 Mustang Predator Engine Drive-By |

![]() 2019 Mustang Shelby GT500 Spied With Track Pack Spoiler, VIR Sticker
![]() Christopher Smith Previous incarnations of the Shelby GT500 haven’t lacked for power, but things weren’t quite up to snuff in the handling department. The transition to a fully independent rear suspension helped in that department, and we’ve seen just how capable the GT350 can be. The latest spy shots of Ford’s forthcoming muscular Pony car show what appears to be a track-pack style rear spoiler, suggesting the newest GT500 could be destined for more than quarter-mile conquering. Don't miss these Shelby GT500 stories: The theory is further supported by a curious sticker on the rear fascia next to the license plate that reads VIR. It, of course, references Virginia International Raceway, a challenging road course at which Ford set a lap record in its Ford GT back in January. That record was then thwarted by the Corvette ZR1 just days later. Furthermore, Chevrolet has been making waves with the track prowess of its range-topping Camaro ZL1 1LE. Could Ford be dropping an Easter egg about the new GT500's on-track capability? Based on the rumors and reports we’ve heard on the new GT500 so far, there’s certainly reason to believe it could. Earlier this year Ford confirmed the Shelby would have over 700 horsepower (522 kilowatts), which easily eclipses the 650 hp (485 kW) found in the Mustang’s direct competitor, the Camaro ZL1. Whether it will approach the 755 hp (563 kW) found in the Corvette ZR1 is unknown, but it’s not out of the question. Power is expected to come from a 5.2-liter flat-plane-crank V8 not unlike the mill in the GT350, only boosted significantly with a supercharger. Whereas previous GT500s were exclusively manually shifted cars, the new model should feature a dual-clutch gearbox. It will naturally wear tweaked front and rear fascias, and we expect to see some carbon fiber components to help reduce weight. We’ve seen quite a few prototypes out and about that haven’t been camera shy, and that usually means a reveal is getting close. Expect Ford to debut the new GT500 later this year, either as a 2019 or 2020 model. https://www.motor1.com/news/263247/m...00-track-pack/ |

![]() That's a heavy pig. Thinking I would pick one up too, but will wait for reviews and a test drive after seeing that weight. I'm also waiting to see what the C8 turns out to be.

![]() “That don’t make no sense”
What on God’s green earth did they do to that thing for it to gain 400 pounds over the current GT350? There’s a reason that my ‘91 Z28 felt as fast as the GT350 with much less horsepower...it probably weighed about 500 pounds less. I would like to see power to weight ratio numbers/statistics over the years of older porches, Mustangs and Camaros. Yeah they had less horsepower, but they didn’t have all this technological BS and giant 20 inch wheels to weigh them down. True, the magna ride suspension does mask a bit of porkiness. ![]() Also wanted to add some of the other car manufacturers don’t do DCT’s because they claim that… “A dual clutch transmission can’t hold up to all the torque that the engine produces. “ |
